Thanks for sharing your journey. Good to know growing in containers. Did you have to supplement the pots during the growing process and if so, which ones for the different vegetables?
That's good you were able to grow what you did despite the weather. I still can't believe those lemons! Thank you for the video and good luck with the move, stay safe!
I too live in Texas, and I just placed an order to Urban Farmer for the first time. I only do container gardening and I didn't get any large tomatoes because of the hot weather and by the time it cooled off enough for them the freeze hit (2 months early) but my cherry tomatoes did great.
Your haul may be modest but it is very real and plenty to be proud of. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I know the pain of container gardening in the hot Texas weather. I’ve got my baby seedlings already started for this spring garden. Lettuces and snap peas did pretty well this fall/winter. I was actually able to grow ONE Brussels sprout plant! 3 years of failure and I almost gave up. But I learned a lot from this past year and next fall I’m looking forward to building on my success! Good luck with the Alaska transition! So exciting!
I live in north Tx and garden in raised beds and containers and my results were basically the same, disappointted but happy with results…if that makes sense. The challenge for me was getting seeds & plants in garden then fighting the heat with no rain. I learned a few lessons and will plan accordingly for this year. Lastly, Im not planting more than 2 cherry tomato plants either, not worth the effort to preserve however m dog loves frozen tomatoes as a treat.
Good job Morgan
You can ferment the cherry tomatoes! Can’t wait to see what you grow in Alaska!
Why are you going back to Alaska?
Got my stickers. Thanks.
you got a good bit
Good haul!
Living in North Texas, we got less then a handful of veggies from our small container garden this year. Gave up when the heat hit its peak, now I know we should have prevailed until the fall – lesson learned, thanks Morgan!
