In this episode of Garden Talk, I interview Jeremy Silva. He is the owner of BuildASoil and he has been on an episode in the past, episode #51, where he talked all about building soil and adding organic inputs throughout the grow cycle. This time around we get into a variety of organic gardening topics. He talks about seed sprouted teas, cover crops, mulch layers, pH, and so much more. What plants do you like to grow? Peppers, lettuce, onion, potatoes, kale, house plants, citrus trees, tomatoes, let us know in the comments section below. If you enjoyed this video please click that thumbs up button 🙂

  1. Unfreakin believable episode. Thanks to both of you I have learned soooooo much in the last 2 years. PART 3!!!!!!

  2. Jermey talks about a pot size of at least 15gal for organic growth. I'm 76 yo and don't have a lot of strength.
60lbs is about tops for me to lift. I ran into this weight chart online. It shows 90 lbs for 15 gals.
That's more than I can handle. I do move my plants around to train and check for predators.
Also would like to use the Blumat auto-watering system. Chris how do you handle the carrots when moving plants.
Can you pull it out, move the plant, and place the carrot back without recalibrating it. I have a 5'x5' tent but hard to go into the tent when the plants are large. At what point in grow do you install Blumat?
Will a 10 gal work for organic growing? I wonder what the difference in weight is from wet to dry? Any suggestions?

What is the volume and weight of your growing containers?

    Container Size US Volume Weight

    #5 3.6 Gallons 25 Pounds

    #7 6.2 Gallons 55 Pounds

    M (#10) 10 Gallons 62 Pounds

    #9 (#15) 12.4 Gallons 90 Pounds

  3. Chris(Mr grow it) real quick. Do you only use craft blend for entire grow and no other amendments? I’m using build a bloom n build a flower. It’d be better if I only had to just use craft blend and water and be done instead . TY!

  4. My city tap water is 9.0 and a little bit of citric acid does the trick every time and buy organic plants don't seem to mind one little bit. Do I need to lower it probably not but I like to have it right at 7 .0 every time

  5. Great interview man there's so much to learn when it comes to organics and living soil. I was kind of curious what Jeremy thinks regarding dolomite lime?

  6. Jearmy is gonna be a legand hes so smart … i love him and his beautiful wife id love to work for him and his wife 💕

  7. How bad is it for the soil top layer to dry out? I’m using leaves to cover the soil that I heard from one of these podcasts but the leaves dry as well. Are they still helpful even when dried up like that?

  8. Love Jeremy. Just always feel like im hanging with a real knowledgeable growmie in a garage while burning one as they just dump knowledge into your brain.

  9. Off topic but do you have a video discussing hop latent viriod? And or tissue culture? If not you should totally bring an expert on the show.

  10. Hi Community and Chris, thanks for contribiution and great videos!

i would like to see a fridge-growing video.
I think it's worth a look and at least very interesting in this small closed controlled space.

PLZ upvote when U think so too!

  11. Really cool to have Jeremy on the show again. In my mind, I consider Jeremy the go-to for organic gardening advice. About as much a professional as your going to find in organics 🧐

  12. I like that Jeremy prefers you buy Build-A-Soil, but doesn't want you to miss out if you choose to NOT buy BAS. Solid guy, will keep buying from them.

  13. Great video, this was great information! Mr. Grow it and build a soil; at once??? Oh yeah!!!!

  14. Wowza! Great conversation, loads of knowledge. Jeremy, like you Bros at FTS, are doing a great service for our mutual community! Thanks!

  15. Hey got a ? If anyone can help me out can someone top and Supercrop the same day with the same plant? How bad of shock will the plant have? Thanks

  16. I will keep on saying it, Beneficial predator mites!! You won’t have any problems with Thrips.
