Hi Laura! I live in a zone 6a southern Ontario Canada town. Your videos are the highlight of my mornings, I sometimes get to watch them peacefully alone with my coffee but most times I watch with my 2yo son (we call you Miss Laura) and he always loves watching you use the auger and loves seeing Benjamin and/or Samantha. My mum has gardened my whole life and while I would always help wherever needed I did not develop my own passion for growing and tending things until getting my own house 2 years ago and finding your channel last spring. The first two summers we have been here I have mostly been planting in containers and one poorly dug but still productive flowerbed however this year I have grand designs for my humble bit of earth. Our yard needs to be leveled and graded and I am going to use that time to address any infrastructure additions to go in (thank you Aaron) before adding any hardscape, trees and flowerbeds. I am now I am seriously considering a small greenhouse to overwinter and start seeds in which I would never 9f dreamed of doing before I started watching you. My mum has a tradition of gifting her kids with a tree when a home is purchased and I have been inspired by you to go with either a Flavortop Nectarine or a Donald Wyman Crabapple (I plan on eventually having both). If you had to choose only one, which would you choose?
I plan on submitting some garden pictures this year so please keep doing the submission videos 😊.
This was super helpful! Thank you 🍐🍎🍑
Thank you, Laura. This was very informative. I'm so visual that when you show the close ups it really helps.
☀️Thank you! so much good info.🙂 We are 5b and such a mild winter here. Hoping for an early Spring.
🌸
I’ve not seen a espalier not against a wall or fence. Is that why you’re eventually going to move it?
Vielen Dank fürs zeigen liebe Laura, sehr beeindruckend, ich bin sehr gespannt auf Deine gepflanzten Zwiebeln, wenn die ganze Pracht ans Tageslicht kommt☺,es waren wahnsinnig viele .
L.G. Anja 😊🍀👍⚘⚘⚘
I remember at your previous home you had a glorious espalier on the side of your house! Ever miss it? Would you ever do something similar at your home now?
Super jealous of your nice warm day! We just got over a foot of snow here against the bench of Utah Valley. You’re pruning and I’m shoveling.
What was your favorite strawberry variety you grew in the cut flower garden last year?
What is the best way to prune a 43 year old Flowering Cherry Tree?
We thought we were going to have spring too (it was 66 the other day) in zone 7 and now they call it zone 8,. BUT alas we are thankfully getting more rain and snow, snow, snow on the mountain tops…so coming from the Pacific ocean up Route #41 and Route #46 to the mountains to our North County. they may be closing because of snow… Although people should be able to come up the "Grade" from SLO and Cal Poly University to the North County on Route # 101….so may Still hold off on too many thoughts of spring is here….just yet….Could probably prune our Crepe Myrtle a little. Will see if it has any buds as yet….Trimmed it a little this last fall of '22….have a nice day
WHAT HAPPEN TO YOUR WATER FALL
Here in north Iowa, we just got another 5” of snow and more on the way the rest of the week. I thought spring was coming early here too. The birds were singing so pretty all week. My sister has seen a few robins, but she lives in northern Ky.
Could I apply this procedure to my ornamental crabapple? I have a very small back garden and really need to maintain the tree for height, girth, and ease of self maintenance.
Any advice on pruning 15 to 20 foot fruit trees on a hill? Don’t have a ladder long enough. 😅
I noticed you do not have any citrus trees but you do have a place to overwinter then 🙂 in the Hartley. Do you care for citrus fruits?
Thanks for sharing this information. Reading how to do something like this is so much harder to understand compared to watching it being done. You make everything look so easy to do and your confidence helps my confidence!! Might sound crazy but it really does. 💜 😊 P.S. I love seeing Benjamin and Samatha in your videos, they are such sweet well mannered children.
Does it hurt the fresh cut when the temperature dips below freezing every night?
Wow great informative video, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
My big old apricot tree keeps doing shoots straight up. I've tried and tried to do open vase but oh! It retaliates! So this year I give up, MCL it is.
Fruit tree pruning is one of my favourite videos of yours. I've watched it like clockwork over the last 3 years. So amazing
Hi! This is not related to pruning but about the sprays you did last week. Can you spray those on grapevines too? The bugs were so bad last year and ruined our grapes.
It was so warm here in North GA today, 78°, that the lettuce and kale I harvested wilted before I could get them in the house. 🌞🌡
