Nice video, good points made. We do get asked to do some random jobs too, put up a big 3 seater child's swing for a customer recently. I think it's often because people don't really know who else to ask, but also because gardeners gain trust from providing a regular service, which other trades don't tend to do. As to content, I enjoy any info about why you're doing what you're doing, i.e. pruning, planting, whatever.
Brilliant video, thoroughly enjoyed it! I like your style, explaining what you've done & why etc. Highly recommended the kilted gardeners channel aswell. π
thanx for not editing it, now I look an idiot, I NEVER look an idiot on MY channel, kinda took my by surprise, and it was cold, we had stood around for about 5 hours already, this guy is worse than lee and just does not shut up. lol I always find it interesting to see other gardeners work, and how different we all are in our working style. it illustrates why sometimes we are not suitable for certain customers and vice versa. 99.9% or my work now is word of mouth, the only advertising I do is on my van. having a good customer relation is defiantly key!
Great video, nice to see the collaborations with other YouTube gardeners, would love to see a collaboration with you and Andrew Gibson (extensive gardens) ππ
Absolutely spot on mate. If anything I probably have too good a relationship with a lot of my clients. Nothing wrong with doing odd jobs but itβs also ok to decline or suggest doing it at in other time in the season if the garden needs the attention as you are a gardener first and foremost. Agree about once you start working for clients, friends family members too as pricing can be as issue. Learnt my lesson on this years ago! Great vlog as always.
Hi mate ! Love the relationship you have with your clients ! How it should be in my opinion π. Was also nice to see the collab at the end ! I agree – it should be done more often for sure πͺπ½
Also thank you for the Easter egg shout out with the podcast π top man!π±
Great video. That tender could be interesting mate. The rapport you have with clients is what I have with both private and commercial customers. It makes things enjoyable and easier to discuss things I find. Nice to see Reas turn up. I hope he is going to head North for his next outing. π
Totally agree, a good working relationship with your clients, is so important, makes life easier for you and them. It's a case of (reap what you sow) and your clients appreciate your hard work and they happily recommend you. Great seeing a yt meet up, hope you both had a good time. Enjoy watching the work being carried out and learning it same time. ππ
Really interesting content. Please don't apologise for sharing your thoughts and experience. That's the good stuff! Also, I love the little trip around the border, explaining what you've done, and what you're leaving til another day (hydrangea pruning). Your clients are asking you for advice cos you know your shit, and you have that gift of sharing your knowledge in a teaching/mentoring style. Not to mention the HOURS you must spend editing…!
Man i'd love to work on that first house, vertical tiles on the side were so green!! Really enjoyed this video inspired me to do a similar video soon I think!
Love these style videos, mate. Your customers are lucky to have you. I'm the same as you. When I take on a customer I will do whatever jobs they want us to do within my capabilities and I don't mind doing a bit extra. Me and Mike are proud of our customer relationships. Some customers I will steer clear. I work them out after a few visits. I don't class myself as a gardener, more like garden maintenance with good basic knowledge. I think we have some similar clients. I just hit the notification button because I nearly missed your video mate.
Fantastic to see that you have such great relationships with your clients. People put a huge amount of trust in us as their gardeners, a Horticulturist who doesnβt know what they are doing, can do some quite significant damage to a garden in a very short amount of time. As someone who lives on site, having a good relationship with my employer is very important, so i really do appreciate what you were saying in the video. Great to see fellow YouTubers meeting up! Something i would definitely like to do at some point, given the time. Nice one chap π
