As you know by now how I absolutely love planning and organising. Garden planning, organising and designing is my favourite. Sorting seeds and doing a garden walk looking at what needs doing, what space is available and visualising the end result all make me feel so invigorated, motivated and eager for growing and implementation to begin.
Days are still short and there is still a bit too much chill to plant anything. I have to resist the temptation to get things growing too early but pruning, that can still be done.
So preparing beds, getting trees and shrubs trimmed and ready to put on their best summer displays…plenty to be getting on with.
Love this promising time of year! Spring is in the air.
Blue Garden Cottage is my husband and my UK style suburban homestead where we garden to grow our own, feed nature and our souls, love our make do home and strive to find frugal, eco ways of gaining our financial self-reliance working from home.
Self-reliance in all its avenues; frugal living, appropriate prepping, making do, gardening and writing or creating books and sometimes crafting is what we are about.
Because so many folk have the same dream we had and are like us, not likely to have that dream of living on a smallholding/country homestead, we hope that sharing and demonstrating how WE have found a way that we CAN have that dream, will inspire others to reach for their dreams in different ways, no matter what house or flat (apartment) they live in and whether they have a garden or not.
We hope that sharing how we build resilience, security and resourcefulness; will help others to do the same.

Its simpler with just a cold frame! Already got it sown with lettuce mix and leftover chard and spinach seeds.
OMG that seed collection and how you've organised them is impressive!! about the cats.. Well, we had a similar problem in Spain at our flip house. They decimated our front flower bed. 🙁 We tried everything, cinnamon, chilly pepper spray, mudballs, and wire meshing to cover the soil when worked really well for us was a movement detector and solar sprinkler… Hope you find a solution, it's heart breaking when cats destroy plants…
