  1. About that concerned citizen questioning payment to family members appearing in videos. Family help out each other because we are family. I would e very insulted if a family member pay me for acts of kindness. Have a blessed day everyone. Exciting times in our gardening world.

  2. I've started onions from seed for the first time this year. I usually get sets but never get great success with size. 🤞 hoping for a great harvest as we consume a LOT of onions.

  3. Habe you heard of Radar onion? You put chose in the ground like garlic. They kan resist frost.

  4. I remember you saying that onions are heavy feeders- what sort of fertilizer do you use through out the season or is it just the Biotone when planting outside?

  5. Great timing, I have used sets in the past, but been disapointed with the size of the heads. So I bought some wala wala seeds this year and am ready to go. Do I need the deeper root trays or will I be ok with the 24 cell GrowEase trays I have for my other seeds? I have a very small raised bed garden so won't be planting nearly as many as you do. 🙂 I am in zone 7B in Campbell River, BC on Vancouver Island so north of you, but warmer.

  6. Would love to try growing onions from seed, curious, if in Zone 9b(rarely get below 30) do you think it would work to get one of the small greenhouses and start seeds outside? Don't really have a place in the house and the garage would have no light.. Also, I know it's a bit off the gardening path but I would really love to know how you plan your meals through the week, what your process is, Im getting so board with cooking the same thing … And as always Laura, thank you for being the beautiful inspiration you are.🌿🌷

  7. “Nature is amazing and that’s why we garden” – Laura
I learned so much about onions today 🧅!! That’s what’s so great about GA – learning things we never imagined.
I’ve recently moved and my patio faces north, so no direct sunlight 😔 Gonna miss not planting veggies this year.
Enjoy your day GA community! 🌞

  8. I Absolutely Love the Videos you do. Have you ever thought of trying Dahlias from seed? You may have and I don't remember. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

  9. 🇨🇦 My walla walla onions have white skin, I wonder if there are different types of walla walla 🤷‍♀️

  10. Any thoughts on whether it's worth succession planting onions and asking about spring/green onions, rather than the bulbing onions. I would like a nice harvest but not all at once as we can't eat all of them. Anyone try that for green onions?

  11. Well, I know what I am doing today. I bought Walla Walla for this year and have green onions left over from last year. Now, I'm thinking of shallots as well. Right not I have annual salvias and Utah celery sprouted in trays. So much fun!

  12. Easy crop to grow but I can never get mine huge like yours. I'm in zone 3, pick my variety for my zone, start seeds but they just never get huge. I add bone meal to my soil, fertilize with an all purpose. Maybe I should add manure to my soil, is that what is lacking you think. I do have clay soil but try to amend it sand, leaves, bark, compost. At a loss.
    Any ideas????

  13. I read somewhere where pelletized seeds are only good for one season. Is this true? I wanted a specific type of onion and it was sold out everywhere except for pelletized but I was afraid to buy them since I only need to plant a small amount this year and they were priced higher.

  14. I was just getting ready to type out a comment asking how onion are grown and there you go answering it before I can post! 😂 Thanks as always for a fun and informative video!

  15. Can someone please explain to me why so many seeds were planted in each cell. Do you take some out after they germinate?

  16. I highly recommend that you take some of your onions dehydrate then and grind them into onion powder. It is the most amazing onion powder you will ever eat. It goes great on popcorn makes it taste like sour cream and onion flavor

  17. Just planted 4rows of Stuttgarten giant onion sets it is still frost on a night but they should be ok have bought the shallots today to plant tomorrow . Seed potatoes have arrived today to start chatting ready for planting later in the month.

  18. Hay Laura if you have any of those candy seeds left over I have a space for them we can’t get them in Ireland 🇮🇪
