Hello! My name is Bethany and I grow things insides and outside of my home in Chicago.

In today’s video, I’ll go over the new (to me) plants I’m growing in my garden this year. Let me know if you have any tips for fruit trees or corn in containers!

  1. Thanks, Bethany! The apple and cherry trees look so promising and delightful. I’m on the respective websites now, perusing the options. 😊 Best of luck with all your new plantings. Please keep us posted!

  2. I have thought about getting fruit trees. After watching your video, I think i just might order some–after I figure out where to put them! Thanks for your video, Bethany.

  3. I've been growing the Ambrosia corn for years, love it. When the corn is shedding pollen and silking, go over and shake the stalks with your hand every day and the pollen will be flying all over and pollinating your corn. You might try succession planting also. I do that and get corn from late July thru August. One of those cherries sounded like a sour cherry (Romeo?) Check that out.

  4. Oh, I’m so excited for you. I would love to get fruit trees. I’m a newbie so this spring I’m just starting with veges and flowers.

  5. As soon as I saw the apple trees on your instagram I ordered some. I’m also going to add a cherry tree. I only do containers, also, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve had a lot of luck with beans. The only corn I’ve grown in containers, or anywhere, is the Orchard Baby sweet corn from Baker Creek. I think they’re made for containers. I kind of neglected them last year, so no cobs… but the year before I did get some cobs. I’ll give them a try this year with more tlc.

  6. Very curious how your fruit trees turn out! I didn't even know you could grow them in containers. I had milkweed and yes, 2 beautiful chrysalises. I really regret not protecting them because they disappeared 😞. like a day later. It was awful. Youll looove statice. It was one of the first flowers I grew and I remember thinking it was really easy. My sweet alyssum volunteered in the sidewalk cracks so I think you'll have good luck with that too. Black hollyhocks⚠️ omg, I think these are some of the prettiest flowers ever. My issue was the hollyhock rust. I actually never figured out how to get rid of it. So I guess my tip would be to just be hypervigilant about looking for rust spots and getting rid of infected leaves. I'm very partial to the black color. Mine was like 8 ft tall lol

  7. I bought bare root ultra dwarf fruit trees from Home Depot.. I planted in 15 gallon garden pots.. They're doing great..
