  1. 1st time I’ve ever heard it’s a law in CA. Are we arrested if we don’t compost ?

  2. If they want customers to sort out their compost for them they need to have a program where residents can show their water and waste bill and pick up finished compost for their garden or this will never work.. people dont like working for free especially for the city

  3. i went to dump my food scraps in the compost bin, lo and behold someone dropped their plastic bag and Styrofoam cup in there already

  5. I am all for reducing trash. That said, regulations should work with each other. It’s illegal for Californians to own a hen without having a big backyard, which pretty much counts out anyone in cities and quite a large part of suburbinites as well. By the way, if you want a bike friendly community, residential businesses should become legal again too. There are a lot of regulations that don’t make much practical sense. If it’s too difficult to make, then at least listen to the citizens who make complaints.

  6. I throw my coffee grounds and eggshells, leftover veggies into my 🪴 plants for vitamins. Banana peels and shredding of cucumbers and squash, leftover lettuce, carrot 🥕 leafs to my hens ❤after doing it for a while it becomes a habit and I love it!!

  7. The environment is fine. The climate is doing what the climate has always done. We are not as significant as we all think we are. Reality is, a meteor will reset the planet before we do any irreversible damage

  8. Good idea and as usual lazy ass americans are going to complain about it.

  9. I’m really surprised that they haven’t had this already going on. We have been doing it for many years. Almost Everything can be composted. Wax milk cartons after cutting off any plastic. Paper plates and so on. Glad to see one of the larger states in our country stepping up.

  10. My city requires this we’ve had cans for a long time now and not one person in my neighborhood uses it not one the truck drives around for no reason every week seems like it’s more of waste then it is a benefit

  11. Mandate, requirement or law? Which is it? City of L.A. 'wants'? What is the exact law? Because KTLA did a simple, basic, but informative, brief, normal news report on simply a 'program', like this report finally mentions midway. What would then go in trash cans? Is trash being redefined?

  12. Another law for Californians to abide by. Don't worry, the food compost police will be checking your trash. $500. fine for noncompliance. Lol.

  13. what's the difference ? whether you put your left over veggies meat , milk in one container to be dumped off at a landfill , or even decompose the same waste at home in a compost bin .. ??

what's the reasoning to think the law of nature decomposes items at one rate as apposed to another rate dependence on geographical location of which the scraps are decomposing ..!!! it doesn't matter .. all things decompose … some slower some faster .. but the gases released maintain the same .. it dosn't just evaporate outside the hemisphere of the earth into space ..

nature doesn't care at what rate things decompose … The earth doesn't excuse one set of decomposition in one area how little or big it is .

in fact i would argue that throwing a bunch of plastic , metal , and other man made products on top of human scraps slow the decomposition process , releasing methane at a slower rate .. and thus allows new seedlings of trees and plants to combat the side effects of a big pile of rotting veggies ,and meat …

also when did we switch from throwing away cardboard boxes that have even just a small bit of food stains on it ?? wasn't the thing to put pizza boxes in a god damn been so it could be recycled so less trees would needed to be cut down ??

California is the most ridiculous backward ass , piece of land .. even China and north korea have more logical sense than Cali …

maybe that's why most of Cali's spokesman for clean energy , medical , educational are chinese .. to thwart and confuse stupid Americans and California always seems to be on the forefront of self destruction ..

  14. So when they sweep the homeless encampments are they going to leave them their tents, sleeping bags, motor homes, cars, etc or put them in the landfill and hand out more tents, sleeping bags, blankets the next day? What about that waste.

  15. Thank you. Should be required everywhere- landfills are beyond full – way too much makes it to the dumps.

  16. Yeah they tried that food recycling crap where I am oh, I don't know if it works or not but the rats seem to be thriving really well great love to come and try to get into your recycling boxes

  17. Would have been hilarious to see her being snatched up by the truck and tossed into the pile at the end. 😂 If it was fake ! 😜

  18. How do apartments do that. I don't see any of those containers not even yard waste cans

  19. 😅 You’re joking right. Ain’t happening. They just getting more & more ridiculous!

  20. YES THINK GREEN LETS HELP MOTHER NATURE THIS IS THAT ONE CHANCE THAT ONE OPPORTUNITY THAT WE THE PEOPLE NEED

  21. What about for the folks that reside in a older apartment building, were landlord doesn't supply bins? only trash dumpster. Is this only for folks that reside and owned a house?

  22. We do this for decennia. We have 3 or 4 kliko's in our garden and separate our garbage. Paper, plastic, food, and rest garbage. Isnt this done in the US? Why not? Strange. We do this all over Europa.
