Come along as Corie and I pick out the seeds we hope to plant in the coming weeks. I’ve got to get our cabbage and peppers started next week. Such an exciting time of the year for gardeners 😀

For me, seed catalogs are like the old Sears catalogs. I'll pour over them again and again. The 'black strawberry' tomatoes from Bakers were amazing last year, and my black prince romas. Finally found malabar spinach-excited about that!
When should I plant beans. Greasy beans to be exact.
I have used sweet gum balls, yes those prickly seeds off sweet gum tree, to ward off slugs. Just lay several around underneath the plant
I have never dried beets, but I will try them. I love drying apples, kale,Roma tomatoes, zucchini chips
Do you store your seed box in the freezer? I like the way you have your seeds in plastic boxes. Can you share where you got it?
You got me sorting and dreaming lol I love when the tree flowers and veggie magazines come. It helps to get you up and moving , looking forward to watching you guys as the seasons unfold.
Doing the same thing here in Ky getting ready to start tomato plants, and maybe squash. Love my garden. Baker Creek Seeds no better place!
I found that my beets, carrots and turnips grow better if I make seed tapes to plant them. I take strips of paper towels or T-paper and make a paste of flour and water. I use a squeeze bottle to make little drops across the strip of paper and add a seed on top of each drop. This also makes my rows much more neat and well spaced 🙂
Do you plant a potato for St. Patrick's Day for luck? We do here in Central PA.
I've grown currants; black, white, and red. I'm in Greene County, TN.
The black have a very distinct flavor. I suspect most would dislike it, but, if you make it into jam, it is an unusual treat.
The reds are tart-sweet, and the white is the sweetest, but produces fewer berries.
If you have space, they are fun to grow for the tiny little berries.
Planning the garden in the spring is so exciting! It's a time full of hopes and expectations! I think tomatoes are what I look forward to most but then I look forward to everything! It will not be long now!
Hi Corrie and Tipper. Thank you for the video. Can't wait for your cookbook to come out. I am wanting to make some banana pudding do you have one that your love? God bless.
I can just see the deer having a meeting and saying, "That Pressley family has killed one too many of us — it's time to get our revenge by attacking their garden!"
You Tipper would love the currents berries made into jelly .My grandmother had one she &My mom made jelly boy it was good .I would love to have some now.
I'm right there with you Tipper! I got my seeds out and organized. I anticipate my 1st tomatoe. I bought some Tommy toes, so I'm real excited to try them.I will be right along with you as we plan and grow our gardens this year!
The White Current tomato is sweet but it will spoil before you can get them in the house! Good for snacking in the garden. 2nd year it's a weed!!! Comes back with a vengeance.
Hey miss tipper can you please tell me where you bought the storage containers….thank you
God bless all here.
I know about the excitement of planning a garden. In all my years I have never had much space to garden. Containers are so much more challenging than planting in the ground. Corie, you were talking about edamame–another name for soy beans. Make sure the soy beans you buy are non-genetically altered. Almost all of the soy beans sold commercially are genetically altered so that they can be sprayed with Roundup to deter weeds. Chamomile for tea is German Chamomile. It grows tall, often needing support, and is happiest growing in reasonably good soil in full sun. I have grown clumps of it in containers. I don't even grow house plants anymore, but I will happily follow along and enjoy all your gardening endeavors. God bless.
Great video. I am looking into a seed case like those. I found one at Michaels for under $20. I love seeing your family involved.
Great way to store your seeds. Do you care to link to where you got your case(s) from. Thanks.
Do y'all seed save at the end of the season? I try to save them. Then plant a few the next year to see if they were a success!
There should be alot of moisture in the ground this spring with all the weather we are having, should be a good year ! You should try gardening vegetables year round , it's a neat hobby, you get to be mother nature for awhile.
This past weekend I created an Excel spreadsheet of what I want to plant. When I need to start it indoors or out. I'm still tweaking it and adding and removing things. I have a few weeks before I plant my onions indoors and maybe a week for my first potatoes indoors. Oh I do most of my planting in containers.
Growing and harvesting is fun and good for us. I enjoy it to, the connection. It's life and it's interesting to learn. Y'all are awesome and I enjoy your uplifting spirit. Have a blessed growing season. I like the collards, swiss chard, spinach and summer lettuce blend (very colorful)
look, you all kill and eat those deer. so if they need food from your garden share up front . they are not trying to upset you just maintain their bodies so you can kill them.
Thanks!
You are so organized with your seeds!
Tipper, have you ever tried the recipe for: Zesty Carrots? They are so good! They have horseradish in them. I can send the recipe.
