It’s so weird how friendly Bali People are. Why are Balinese people so happy, friendly and welcoming? Balinese hospitality is something very important in their culture (in general in Indonesia I would say). But all those smiles and shiny eyes of the locals here made me feel so unbelievably good. Do you think that they treat foreigners in Bali sometimes not so well? Mhh, the more you go to touristic areas here, the higher is the chance that someone might overcharge you. But otherwise?     Hidup cuman sekali nikmati dan bawa satai gak usah di bawa ribet,hidup berdampingan tampa ada perselisihan/keributan,saling menghargai,menhormati satu sama lain,tanpa memandang warna kulit,suku,agama atau yang lain nya.

    Bali is perfect for tourists especially from West, Balinese are very friendly and will treat you like a king/queen.

    But unfortunately its completely different experience for the local tourists. I was in Bali last month with my husband who is British. We were in 5 stars beach club, around Seminyak.

    I can see how they treat us differently. When my husband wasn't around they act so cold to me and not friendly at all especially the waiters. Not even smile. It's like I'm not welcome there, is it because I look like average Indonesian women? Not sure
    Not just one time but many times when we visited some 5 stars restaurants, hotel or becah club.

    Honestly I'm not that surprised, I have heard this before many times from my friends travel to Bali. It's like they treat the local tourists as second class and foreigners/European as First Class.

    If you stay longer in Indonesia and using Go Jek service very often, better you put e money in Go Pay. So you dont need to spare cash money. Many restaurant also accept Go Pay payment in their cashier

    Just came back from a two month trip in Indonesia (1month of it in Bali). As someone who is a
    Black American and can pass as Indonesian based on my looks, I noticed the difference of treatment when it came to me and white tourists. If you look like a local or are a darker skin, you will definitely not get the same respect and utmost treatment as White/Caucasian tourists. Only way I was treated differently was until I spoke and they heard my thick USA accent. Shows the true colors of people from SE Asia. White worship is real in that part of the world. If you’re darker skin or look like a local, forget about it- you’ll be treated subpar and like a second class citizen. SE Asia mentality.
