Love love love baker creek! I to bought the queen lime peach zinnias and red gomphrena. Also using gomphrena for dried Christmas flowers 💐
Great video, I haven’t ever bought from bakers creek but I have a catolog. I would be interested in seeing how to make soap with flowers.
I bought a sourdough starter from baker creek And I’m amazed at how awesome it is!
Making soaps sounds like fun😉
Btw, is that all Dara is , a carrot that goes to seed ? 🤔
Good idea on the soaps!! So much you can do with that idea . I love daura. I started it in a bed by my driveway yrs. ago and it comes back from seed along the edge in the gravels. Some yrs alot…some not. Always have some.
I really want to see how you cook spaghetti squash so i can make some with my own squash.
Well you just made me spend $100.00 at barker creek😮❄️💚🙃
Like you, I grow lots of varieties of snapdragons. I also bought the Cherry Twist Snapdragons and am excited to grow them. I enjoyed seeing your order. It's fun to have so much to look forward to.
I love Baker Creek!
I did soaps with flower petals from my garden last year and they did really well, I also did resin soap dishes with flower petals in them as a compliment to the soaps. The soap dishes also had black silhouettes of local animals in them, the dishes did exceptionally well. When I say "I did", I actually got my friend to make them for me as I didn't have time. I am not doing the soaps or soap dishes this year as I found collecting the petals too much work added on top of paying my friend to make them for me. The profit margin was too low for me. It would be different for you if you are actually making them yourself.
Thank you for sharing with us. Enjoyed it very much. Love the soap idea. I bet it would sell very well. Good luck.
Wow, I had a very similar haul from Baker Creek! Let us know how the asters do if you get them to grow. I could not figure those out. Ps I grew those wasabi radishes this year, like a radish but more spice. lol. They were a decent size too.
Placing my order this week!
Baker Creek is our favorite company to order from when we want to try new varieties. we grow little gem every year, you're going to love it.🌱👍🥬
Great haul! Im also a lot of the same things this! I also had very bad luck trying to germinate Asters! Going to try a couple more years and then I'll cull it from the list! I used to have a little candle making side business (that I had to basically give up on because I had to work 70 hours per week for about 2 years straight @ main career) but after seeing many other flower farmers getting into making soaps, salves, candles, and wax melts, etc. it's making me really want to get back into it! I think it would be a great addition to the farmers markets!
Fun stuff! I started the Paradiso mix last year. Slow grower and just putting on size now for me. I’ve resolved to just get groovy echinacea varieties from my garden center this year. While the hybrids are perennial, they are known to only produce well for about 2 years. Lavender from seed takes a while too. Asters were odd for me too (short and small flowers). Apparently, they do benefit from being started early and are daylight and temp sensitive. Basically, they flower at long days so need to be well established by then. We will see this year. 🤷🏽♀️
I think Laura from Garden Answer made a calendula salve a while back. You just reminded me that I wanted to try it! Also might be worth looking into yourself! 🙂
I grew the New Kuroda carrot last year and I highly reccomend it I've always had dismal luck with carrots since we have heavy clay soil but these grew nice and big and the vast majority were straight. And SWEET!! When I've grown carrots before they were always very bitter. I also grew the Black Nebula. Almost as sweet as the New Kuroda, a little less straight but not bad and they were absolutely HUGE!! I thought for sure they were going to taste woody because they were so giant but they were delicious!
Tnx very nice. I love seeds
Yes….please do the soaps! Thanks for the great video …..I’m waiting for my Baker seed order!
I've been wanting to learn how to make soap also I would love to learn along with you. I'm going to grow Dara for the first time this season.
Awesome seed haul ❤
