I take exception to your comments on adding pebble to bottom and half way up to increase drainage. You are better off with full depth of good quality well drained potting soil. Your pebbles reduce the total soil volume in a pot and there fore reducing the potential size of the root mass for your plant. This is approach is well documented by scientific research.
