  2. With the odd weather patterns we've experienced in the past couple of years indoor gardening has become just as important as outdoor gardening. So we keep a stockpile of sprouting seeds for growing scallions, celery, greens, lettuce, herbs, beets, radishes, turnips, carrots, and peas which guarantees fresh food throughout the winter. We turned a sunny room into a garden room with small greenhouses, shelves, and a few LED grow lights. Peas don't need pollinators so that has worked out. Blowing a fan at them or jiggling the flowers keeps pods coming on. Next, I'm going to try growing cherry tomatoes indoors.

  3. Food shortages…Ask yourself why Bill Gate is now the biggest farm land owner in America, and just by chance investing millions in insect based foods…..wants you to eat flies I guess…

  4. Oh yeah ? Well I have pet exotic cockroaches.
They will live through any catastrophe
As long as they don't freeze

Only pet the needs no prep. 😎

  5. Ya know I don't often read these because it gives me anxiety but I was at Walmart yesterday 1-7-23 folks and I got THE VERY LAST milk gallon in the freezer case …and both frozen areas were completely empty 😕 😳 I was shocked and worried ..what the heck 🥺 scary crazy times

  6. Bleach starts losing its potency after 6 months. It doesn’t have a long shelf life you can take pool shock if you’re careful and make your own bleach

  7. Question about a rainwater harvest system…Can you drink water that comes off your roof (across standard shingles). I've searched around for that, can't seem to find a consensus answer. I will of course be running any water like that through my berkey system first. Also, we had very cold weather here, much colder than normal (down to -1 windchill, N. GA believe or not), so how do I keep from freezing outside (I have 2 55gallon barrels ready to go).

  8. I keep aquatabs or oasis water purification tablets, they are not very plesent to use, but they are not expensive and if you follow the shelf life and use them acording to instructions, you can drink river or lake water for up to 6 months

  9. garlic, honey, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, thyme, basil, cilantro, cayenne pepper,

  10. I was looking at cp channel ad he was saying because of the shortage of penicillin you will no longer be able to get you fishmox or any of that over the counter…. you will need a script in the near future I order more.

  11. I would add a small dehydrator and mason jars (&extra lids) since if you lose power or have much less available, keeping fridges and freezer going might not be workable and dried foods take up less space! Dogs are good for security, most 'bad' people want the element of surprise on their side! Sounds like you need a neighborhood watch at your place! Something I saw you did on medications and should also do on foods is mark the best-by dates in marker because it makes it much easier to keep rotated as so many of the dates are hard to find and see! And thank you Jester for the tip on Celox!

  12. Last year when me an my sister in law we stock pile 12 containers of baby formula an diapers we figure out how much diapers we needed it was nice not having to worry about formula then when we were done we pass on the formula that was open to another cousin that was having a baby at the time they were very grateful.. my sister in law told us that formula was going up in price an was having hard time finding it last year in 2022. I even bought few cloth diapers for my pantry to have on hand I told my self that if we can't afford it then we use cloth diapers.

  13. Another thing you might stock up on are items that older adults and disabled people need for incontinence needs, i.e., disposable diapers, pads, wipes, talc, creams, medications for skin problems, etc. Those are going up in price like crazy, so even if there are no "shortages," which there are, you can get ahead of things by purchasing now and saving money for the future. If you have a parent with dementia or similar problem in your care, this is something to think about. Hope this helps.
