“Anyone who thinks gardening begins in the spring and ends in the fall is missing the best part of the whole year; for gardening begins in January with the dream.” -Josephine Nuese

  1. Hi Janey,
Calla lillies give the garden a lovely sculptural feel.
I have many including lemon, warm orange to red, and pure white.
Easy to grow and divide and keep neat and tidy.
They will suit that part of your garden as a nice big clump and (accentuate your outdoor furniture).
    Love the giant variety…..sounds great!
    Enjoy, Jo.

  2. Good morning everyone. It's going to be amazing. I can't wait for updates on it. I think Canon lilies are so pretty but expensive by me. I think maybe going that route would be cheaper.

  3. Janey will the lilies flop over? I live in 9a Texas and some of mine do flop over 😕 I have to stake them.

  4. Your recent weather seems to be like our normal crazy North Texas weather. So sorry you are having to deal with it and worry about that beautiful oak tree and flooding. Praying it ends soon for you. Love your plan for your shade area with that beautiful bench and the blue and white pots. I collect those and they add so much in the garden, especially with those amazing white plantings you plan on doing. Thank you for sharing so much about calla Lillies. My husband planted up our front door pots last year with calla Lillies and we had such a good, long season with them, I'm going to have him plant them again. I've never seen those huge calla lillies before. I may have to try them somewhere also. Excited to see how huge they get. Stay safe and dry!

  5. I’ve tried growing Callas indoors and it never bloomed.🙁 thanks for the information, might try again.

  6. I live in zone 6b and I've never dug up my calla lily rhizomes and they've come back every year so far. We'll see what happens this year after the bitter cold we had.

  7. I am learning so much from you! I purchased some half off last fall and potted them up. They started growing so moved them out of my greenhouse where it was cooler. Then got really cold so moved back in. I better check on them to be sure they are not mush.

  8. I love my callas. I never knew there was a variety that large. I am going to start looking for it. I hope you have a wonderful day.

  9. Hi Janey 🌺 I hope your weather gets warmer and I love Calla lillies they will be amazing in the place where you will plant them . Have anice day🌷🌼🌷

  10. I love calla lilies. I had a cluster of white for my wedding bouquet. Thank you for sharing where you sourced the bulbs. I’m going to see if I can find them for my yard. I hope everyone is staying safe with your crazy weather! Garden on Janie!

  11. Love today's quote. Those are going to be gorgeous against the black fence. I had calla's yrs ago, I love tall stems, foxglove are my absolute favorites. New to me a couple yrs ago a flower named Angels fishing rod, I started seeds last yr, they hardly grew at all, fingers crossed they bloom this yr. If you haven't seen those, do a search.

  12. Hello, I just found your channel and love the videos so far. I am in zone 10b So Cal. I am just learning about planting all things "Bulbs" I am worried about my bulbs I have planted with all this rain we have been getting. I hope they don't rot in the ground.

  13. Good morning Janey. Those Calia lillies look absolutely lovely. I'm definitely followng your recommendations for getting my flowers to bloom earlier in 2023. As always, thanks for your sharing all your excellent gardening tips – and have a great week. 🌼🌻😁

  14. What a great tip on growing in pots to transplant. Thanks Janey. Keep going in the direction of your dreams.

  15. is there a way to calculate the effect of growing plants in an unheated greenhouse or a glassed-in porch on their hardiness zone? for instance, I am in zone 5. if I try to grow callas or other tender bulbs in an unheated greenhouse, will the protection of the glass allow me to grow a camellia, or a calla? If so, how many zones higher will be safe? It seems to me that there must be a formula that I can use to figure out what plants would work.

  16. Hi Janey. Callas are beautiful! That corner Will look so nice! What would you think of trying some bright yellow flowers against your black fence? They would really pop! 🙂 White, blue, black and yellow go well together.

  17. Can I ask where you got your greenhouse from? I’m putting one in my garden this year and I’m doing my research now🥰

  18. I start mine in the house, that and my begonias. That aside,I hope you and your family are safe.Calif. Is really getting hammered!❤

  19. Hi Janey! Thanks for the wonderful information as always. Love to hear all you dreams for your garden and the new flower field. Stay safe with all the rain in your state. We are expecting thunderstorms tomorrow with 50-60 mph winds. Stay safe everyone…

  20. I love the color of your terracotta pots. Where did you get them? I can’t ever find them like that where I live.
