In this video, we briefly talk about one of our hardy survival foods grown on our homestead, the Jerusalem Artichokes or Sunchoke; What it takes to grow it and to get rid of it when it is in an area you don’t want it in. It can easily become an invasive plant.

  1. Thanks for the info Rob. We don't think the sun choke is for us after watching your video. They seem to be great to eat but hard to get rid of . We really appreciate you wearing the t-shirt and supporting us. It looks good one you my friend. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day

  2. Great update. Lots of really cool stuff growing. Those Sunchokes can really get out of hand. One of those want to have around types but can become a hassle quick. Yard looks clean and green over there. Stay safe and motivated. Thanks for the share!

  3. Lol have you seen my sunchoke yard? Lmbo
If you get there in the yard just pull or mow
Plant Them somewhere you can mow around
But yes be carefull where you plant them
Yes tarps work but it can escape around
Chickens love the tops maybe the roots too
    Bunnies love tops and bottoms

  9. Wow! Such beautiful flowers! You’re place is so green. Ours is beginning to look like that. Lol

  10. When you talk about invasive, all I can think of are our honeysuckles 😒 yes, they are nice to an extent, smell really nice too, but man! They will take over!

  11. This also reminds me of the bamboo my dad planted several yrs ago… Now there's NO WAY of getting rid of them, especially since it's spread to one of the neighbor's backyard, & 1/4 of it is now a bamboo jungle just waiting for a panda to come tackle the job for us😆😆 but on a serious note, NEVER grow bamboo if you live around other people

  12. Looks like sunchokes are GREAT to grow, you just gotta know what you're getting into, before growing it, thanks for sharing the tips along with this😊😊

  13. One of these days I am going to get some growing around here. I just got to find the perfect place. I built that container for the once you gave me but waited too long haha. You have done a good job with them Rob. I wonder how they would do out in the back of the property and just let them grow wild? I am sure some animals eat them in they are native.
