This video follows a Georgia, USA homeowner that experienced downed trees in his yard following a night of tropical storm force winds. Rather than just clean up the area, he decided to create an intimate front yard garden. It’s complete with a fire pit, a grill station made from pallets, a seating area with table, a marble rock wall, a pergola with solar lights, a perennial wildflower bed, a hammock, a pea gravel base, and a entry bridge that crosses a dry rock bed. The garden and bridge were created using natural materials found on the property whenever possible. The work cutting out the garden was all done by hand using shovels, pick axes, etc. A tree seat was created using a chainsaw and it is perfect when one is cold and needs to sit closer to the fire pit. 15 evergreen shrubs surround the garden and will provide total privacy when mature. The perennial flower bed shields the garden from view from mid spring throughout early fall, while providing incredible flowers throughout. Birds, bees, you name it. They all love the wildflowers. The garden hammock is the absolute best place to read a book, enjoy a relaxing nap, or watch the stars at night. A flagstone path leads from the garden to the home. At night, when entertaining outdoors, candles are placed along the pathway and into the garden area. The solar lights atop the pergola and railing create a very relaxing environment. A solar fountain providing bubbling water noise and led lighting at night makes it even more relaxing. This garden is the go-to area when we want to enjoy the outdoors. A DIYers dream project.
