Good stuff! Shizuka Ryokan looks totally legit – food and accommodation. It looks like you really could be in Japan. It is just on 4 years since we've been there too. Unfortunately Jetstar still hasn't come to the party ticket price wise so we may have to wait a little longer before we can go back. As far as Japanese experiences in Melbourne goes we can recommend IMA in Carlton (apparently temporarily closed – they're relocating) and La Bajo Milkbar in North Melbourne. Both superb, casual eateries. La Bajo's shokopan bread is possibly Melbourne's best.
