It’s important to know one’s strengths and weaknesses… And when it’s time to bring in an interior design, pro. When it comes to important issues, like buying furniture, committing to the placement of your TV, or making structural changes it’s better to have a pro opinion on your side. What about a brass or copper hood. Don't you need one?
I love your excitement and happiness.
Had to jump back on… can you have a track on the mantel to be able to slide art work to one side with the TV over the mantel, without having to remove it completely
John's visit was so eye opening! His impressions seem intuitive to the rooms themselves. I wish I could hire him!
John will become so helpful to getting you the home you always wanted, but didn’t know how, and much less time and energy will be spent getting there! Enjoyed it!
Completely agree with moving the big bookshelves to other wall. And placing the tv where bookshelves are now
Yesssss an hour video. Thank you Linda
John has the best ideas for the great room. I hope you consider his suggestions. There seemed to be a lot of talking over him.
I would listen to John's advice concerning the television. The placement in the corner would block the view of the bookcase and you would have to swivel the tv each time you wanted to watch it. Also, I like his idea of placing the bookcases on the back wall near the door and have a smaller table as a "catch-all." His home is exquisite and I would trust his advice. You are most fortunate to have his friendship and counsel.
could u have a second tabletop for the bankette when you are having more guests?
What is the name of the glass company?
I agree with John regarding not having the TV in the corner. Yet I agree with you about placement of the book/bar table. (To include Stewart's need for lighting during shoots.)
Here are a few options to consider. All three options involve separating the two book shelves just wide enough for the TV to fit between. The first two options involve minimal and simple, low profile cabinetry work. You can make it all appear as one unit.
Option one is with doors to enclose the TV when not in use. This could match the fireplace cabinets, adding continuity while appearing as one library wall.
Option two would be without the doors. Simply construct shelving to match the existing shelves above and below the TV.
Option three would be to separate the two cases without any construction, simply adding a low profile table below the TV.
I really like TV where he says. And I'm not sure the glare would be an issue. It might be best to try different places
Linda can you split up bookcases and put one in your office for all garden books! The other stays in family room for family books or hubs books? Just a thought…❤️💕 love your new home!
Hi Linda! With the ledge over the stove, I would really consider replacing it with something half the depth, or even make it a little ledge where you can lean things. That way it still has that beautiful line, but is more practical for cooking.
I agree 100% about the tv in the great room maybe put the table under the window up to the door
Is there anyway to split the bookcases and put a table in between for your bar with your husbands beautiful piece above it? Cant tell the space very well.
Can the basement become your exercise/meditation zone?
Yes you can put sheet metal on that shelf
I agree with John on the great room furniture placement
Funny watching the transition.

John has come up with so many good ideas !! Totally worth hiring him !!! Can't wait to see what is coming !!!
Will a glass table be permanently connected to the base? I am thinking of two situations: not standing up by pushing on the tabletop as we tend to do as we age……..AND will it be safe with grandchildren?
Instead of a TV, how about a projector type viewing screen that pulls down from the ceiling in front of the fireplace.
