About this video: This is an unseasonable warm fall in Georgia and the bees should have winter brood cooking in the cells. Today we look at the Space Force and the Coast Guard hives to check for winter brood and prepare them for the upcoming winter. Do my hives have everything they need? Will I find the queens? Is there any brood? We will do a deep dive into both the Space Force hive and the Coast Guard hive.

About this Channel:
I hope you enjoy beekeeping and this video. If you are interested in becoming a beekeeper or experience backyard beekeeping for yourself have a look at some of the videos on this beekeeping channel as well as videos from beekeeping creators I have listed below. This is my third season as a beekeeper and everything I have learned came from YouTube and mostly from the channels listed below.

Although this beekeeping channel is primarily about beekeeping I am also a quasi pepper who believes in becoming self-sufficient. With that in mind, I have started a garden, planted fruit trees, replaced the hedges in front of my house with blueberry bushes, and have recently built a chicken coop. In short, I will share a lot more than beekeeping on this channel.

A little about me:
I am a person who believes you are never to old to learn something. Be it beekeeping, farming, raising chickens, painting, filming and editing video, making wine, beer, bread, cheese, and other fermentation consumables, play guitar etc… If I see something I want to try I start it immediately. If there is one thing I could choose to pass along to my children this would be it. Never be afraid to try. My wife famously told me once that if you are not willing to be bad at something, you will never be good at it. That means I am bad at quite a few things.

A little about you:
If you are new to beekeeping or are interested in becoming a beekeeper this channel might be for you. In my beekeeping adventures I show everything from my beekeeping successes to my beekeeping failures. I hide nothing and am never afraid to admit to a mistake.

I hope you find my beekeeping videos fun and entertaining as well as get something out of them. I hope I inspire someone to get out and try something new. If you do enjoy my videos, please take a moment to spread the word about this channel and help it, and myself, grow. Have a great day and BEE Happy!

A bit about my channel:
This channel is primarily about beekeeping or more specifically beekeeping 101 because I am just a beginning beekeeper and I figured the best way to learn beekeeping and to be a beekeeper was to buy a flow hive, sometimes spelled flowhive or a flow hive 2 which is sometimes known as a flowhive 2 and begin building by backyard apiary so I would have a place to keep bees. Now, backyard beekeeping is not the only thing I do. I consider myself to be urban farming as I also try to grow a sustainable and edible landscape. Backyard farming for me also includes keeping chicken and building other things in my shop that will help all of the birds, bees, insects, and other natural pollinators. I learn how to feed bees and chickens while showing you my day-to-day activities in my apiary, sometimes known as a bee yard. Some people consider me a prepper and yes there is a little truth to that. I do consider this a form of prepping and becoming self sufficient. Thank you for spending time with me learning about tap hives, flow hives, honeybees, and chickens.

  1. I had 1 hive that was dragging out some brood i guess it got too cold. They are all bringing in pollen from bird feeders and calf feeders and i have pollen sub out.❤️🐝

  2. Yeah, transparent covers are handy, some Dutch beekeepers I watched use them too.
But it's really strange to watch after watching hundreds of US videos. They use cringe names for things like Queen (moer) Drones (darren) Frame (raam) etc. 😀. and for some unknown reason small hives, like the Dadant and Spaarkast, are popular over here.

  3. It hit mid 60s here in SE PA and was happy to see bees flying in all 6 of my hives, was worried about 2 so was really glad to see them flying. As you noted, temps going down this week so (as you) didn’t open the hives as there is almost nothing you can do if you find an issue and they will lose their heat bubble. Looking forward to your always informative videos. I’m sure you will be building a Bee Barn 2.0 hive for the spring (as I will).

  4. I was watching Black Mountain Honey on YouTube; he has bottom entrances on his hives. Wondering if those would be helpful with your small hive beetle problem.

  5. I can't wait to see Bee Barnes 2.0 on Vino Farms I definitely want to build some Bee barns for the packages I have coming this spring.

  6. Hi folks. I promise I'll answer each and every comment. It might take a day or two though because I seem to have a case of the GOINK (not the forbidden to speak about goink just your average everyday soar throat, congestion, etc..) and am feeling a bit under the weather. I really appreciate each and every one of you who watch my videos and take the time to comment. Thanks for being out there.

  7. The light helps see the nectar. I have the clear inner covers on my hives in the winter too, betterbee has some available. I saw that frame break! Hopefully it was an easy fix! Get well soon, and thanks for sharing.

  8. Just an observation, but could you talk a little slower? It seems like you are nervous and trying to talk as fast as you can because you have a time limit. Do you?

  9. Sorry you are down with the GOINK? LOL Flu, etc. hope you feel well soon ! ——- It is not unheard of for a Queen to lay some eggs during an extended warm spell however if you have a sudden bitter cold snap they probably will not survive to emerge. When you have a bad cold snap and the bees regroup into a ball to create heat around the Queen they may need to move away from the brood and the brood will die. I'll bet you have quite a bit of brood in your heated hives. Get well soon and take care !

  10. just made me two of those clear covers. I've been wanting to do that for a while now but seeing vino farms do it lit a building spark in me. absolutely love them and can't wait to see how well the do.

  11. Another great informational video my friend. Happy New Year! No video this week..will be ready for next week. Cheers!!🐝🐝👍👍
