Biochar is a really cool soil amendment that is thought to breakdown over decades. You can make it from wood burned at high temperatures and low oxygen. Take the charcoal and add compost and you get biochar!

Have you tried making biochar? Let me know if it works! This way is pretty inefficient. I will do this in the future in a big ole barrel to see some pretty cool chemistry.
