  1. Thanks for sharing I’m in zone 10b so our temps are like 30’s 40’s in the morning but nothing like the freeze you all are experiencing in your zone . I pray your plants will bounce back.

  2. My garden did great. I am in Zone 9b though. It only got down to 29 degrees. I covered everything. I only covered my brassicas with a shade cloth. I used old sheets for everything else. I figured something was better than nothing. Some of my outdoor houseplants took a hit ( all still alive but with a couple of crispy leaves). My peanut plant took a hit but it is sprouting new leaves. I don’t keep soil in my house. It’s survival of the fittest for my plants.

  3. Surprisingly, every single crop survived here in Georgia, zone 8A, with 90% showing no damage whatsoever. I had very minimal frost damage on a couple of Swiss Chard and a few turnips and rutabaga leaves, which were all in one bed that had more exposure. I used both frost fabric and 4mil plastic and mulched everything with leaves/pine straw. Our lowest temp was 8 degrees. In total, it took about 4 hours of work to cover and mulch everything with my son and husband, but it was definitely worth it.

  4. I found a few of my onions out of the soil too in grow bags, and they are in hoop houses so no animals can access them. I think it may be from the soil expanding/contracting when freezing and thawing…just a guess

  5. This was a surprize tour. 😊Wasn't expecting to see you till the Spring. Seem like you learned some valuable tips. I'm in the high desert in CA zone 8b, so I had already started using some row cover on my plants. Especially at night. So far so good. But I'm also looking forward to the Spring season.🌞

  6. Hi, I did enjoy the video. In the winter months I usually keep one layer of plastic on when it gets below freezing and I have row cover and a second layer of plastic on standby for when temps get really severe. Over Xmas we had a snowstorm in MI. I had all three layers down and left the snow to lay around the plastic to act as insulation. All of my crops survived. I even harvested carrots and kale two days ago. I learned this watching an old playlist at OYR Frugal and Sustainable Organic Gardening. In addition to the plastics I switch to harder varieties of the lettuce, kale, carrots, etc.if you ever get a chance check him out. He doesn’t make videos any longer but he left his videos up.

  7. Hey Asia! I can see the cold air coming off your breath. That’s cold. 😂 😜

I’m in Maryland and we got down to 11°. Craziness! 😩

I just dropped a video showing how my garden weathered these frigid temps.

Like your garden…my broccoli rabe did not hold up. Those poor stems turned into mush. Learning lesson for me next year. 🙌

I covered as much of my garden as I possibly could, and it worked out for the better.

Come on spring. I miss ya! 👀

    Great update!

  8. My garden was almost completely killed off. Only the collard greens and garlic…maybe the cabbage. -Sigh! I will take your advice to mulch and cover.

  9. I covered everything with frost blankets and I lost some but it appeared to be fine but a few days later you could see that some were damaged, so I reseeded it and kept what I could. It was unusual for us to have five days of heavy snow and be at -4 for two days with a high of 2 degrees on one of those days. Now we're in the 60's. I'm in 6b/7a, Southern Indiana.

  10. I covered my chard up in Maryland and had the same kind of reaction. But there are baby leaves in the center that are still trucking after the deep freeze so I'm going to see what it does! Thanks for the update 🙂
