Hello! My name is Bethany and I grow things in my rooftop container garden in Chicago. In this video, I’ll go over the raised beds I use in my garden, give you a quick plant tour, and talk about the pros and cons of raised beds compared to other container types.

Found this interesting since we live in upstate NY. Maybe next winter I’ll leave all my plants in the containers. Transferred them all to the garden. Kind of a hassle. Thanks for the info!!

Interesting to hear that the snow adds nitrogen to the plants. I love the snow 🌨 ❄️ but it doesn't stay long. Sometimes I think it would be nice to grow all those plants like mango, avocados 🥑, papayas etc. on the other side I enjoy to have a break in winter.
We got 4” of snow last week, wish I would have thought to do this! It’s pretty much gone by now. We usually get a good amount of snow here in PA
I live in a zone where we get lots of snow as well and the air is frigid but I agree with you it’s nice getting that break from the garden and it’s nice seeing the different seasons.
Thanks for all the info! I'm in the North Burbs of Chicago and love the snow! I'm sure some folks in the warmer climates saw you shoveling without gloves and thought you were crazy!
Up to now I have only ever shovelled snow onto my compost pile to keep the heat in, but now I'm TOTALLY going to pack it around my containers too. Thanks again for the tip!
Interesting video! Thank you for sharing the info!!!
