It’s that time of the year again where all of the MMO content creators make one of those list videos talking about the upcoming MMORPGs that might be releasing in 2023, even though experience has taught us that half of these games will be perpetually pushed back another year only to be featured on next years list…
Honestly some of these games featured in this video won’t ever come out, and the ones that do probably won’t live up to expectations, This list will be organized in order of the MMOs that I’m most optimistic about to the ones I’m less optimistic about.

    Honestly think Blue Protocol is going to be the next FFXIV. If any company knows how to maintain a game overtime its Bamco. Japanese devs have a good streak in this realm. SEGA is an exemption to that rule but they still maintain their games longterm even if they are trash.

    Cant believe Cohhcarnage invested 2 million dollars of his own money into Pantheon. Talk about throwing money into the toilet all to experience a bit of nostalgia from his Everquest 1 days. You can bet hes never seeing that money again.

    Why is Palia "the perfect game to play with your partner"? Does it have some partner features like the Eternal Bond in FFXIV?

    Pantheon Rise of the Fallen has just hastened their PA sessions to one every month, the most frequent testing to date. If you watch Cohh Carnage's latest video on Pantheon you can see the good progress especially regarding networking. I personally expect Alpha in 2023.

    I can't believe there is a whole genre of games designed to basically not be played (Idle RPG). What a time to be alive!

    I'm most excited about the Riot MMO cause I love their worldbuilding and I expect it to release and actually be good. Second would be Ashes of Creation.

    Nightingale is my go to from this list. Then another game I have been waiting for is GateWalkers (Not an MMORPG though).

    A correction on the riot mmo, for business model you put a question mark but riot games has a very distinct business model and that is to make every game free to play while having only cosmetic microtransactions, this is completely across the board and the riot mmo will be no different.

    There is this open-source project which is an MMORPG called "Veloren".
    Have you reviewed it? If not, it could be nice to do so.
    I found it a few days ago. And played it a little. Seamed fun.

    Darkfall : Rise of Agon is on steam in early access. Its an 2009 game which has been remade for the new generation.

    Key features : Open world , no loading screens
    Sandbox , no hand holding
    PVP Full loot
    Citybuilding , playerhousing, villages, hamlets
    Politics between clans, alliances between clans, conquer lands
    mainland with 4 large islands on every corner, craft your ship, sail around, fish, hunt world boss kraken.
    pure skill pvp, no tab targetting, twitch gameplay
    unforgiving, use your brains, people can steal from you, deceive you, kill you, loot you, who is your friend, enemy ?
    every item in the world is craftable.

    bank often ! dont feel comfortable or safe. you can sneak up on people farming mobs, and wait for the right time to attack them to kill them and grab all the precious loot of his hard work for the past hour.

    There is NO other mmorpg like this one. Get past the graphics and you will feel feelings like a game never have given you before. here YOU are the character, this is your avatar. you will take everything personal, this will be your alter ego. No mmorpg i ever played come close to this gem.

    I would prefer a list of past year releases or underrated 2022 mmo's since I hate speculating and the games who will actually release I will forget about since I dont follow mmo's daily

    The moment they announced, that AGS will publish Blue Protocol, the game was dead in the west. What a shame, I was very excited about the game.
    But I have experienced the sheer incompetence of that ignorant company since February 2022 through the western Lost Ark version.

    I still have high hopes for Hytale COPIUM

    Check out grim dawn again along with all of its expansions, its stood a decent test of time and is averaging around 6-7k players daily could be worth a re visit.
