Man, your sound is blown out this time.
When an Austrian wants to prove the French wrong, not even an army can stop him.
I don't even need to watch to know the guy who made thr segway is here.
something up with the audio on this video, sounds like it's clipping or something
Jack Parsons would have fit in on this list I think.
A notable (and more recent) member of this club would be Mike Hughes, a flat-earther who designed and built his own steam-powered rocket in order to prove the earth was flat and ended up dying during a test flight back in February 2020.
actually, one stunt, one adaptation, 2 inventions, and one variation on fuel.
Dropping oneself in a barrel into water doesn't constitute an invention.
Attaching a car to an airplane doesn't constitute an invention.
Experimenting with rocket fuels doesn't constitute an invention.
….. Successfully circumnavigate the rapids at the bottom of the falls in a metal barrel…..
Well someone has to be the first…. I guess???
It seemed like a good idea at the time…
Who would have thought?????
What about the guy that made eharmony and lost his wife to someone on it, sure he didn’t physically die but ya know he did spiritually
Love that conclusion. So true.
Arrgh! Clipped audio! Horrible distortion. I’m watching, but getting a headache!
What's up with the audio? It's fuzzy on both my home theater and my phone. Like fuzzy to the point I'm worried it would damage my speakers. Other videos are fine. Did something get corrupted during the upload?
Reichelt was ahead of his time imagining the modern flying squirrel suit…his interest in safety was exemplary as all modern parachutes now have a Lifetime Guarantee.
0:45 – Chapter 1 – Karel soucek
3:00 – Chapter 2 – Henri smolinski
5:50 – Chapter 3 – Frank reichelt
8:25 – Chapter 4 – William Bullock
10:15 – Chapter 5 – Max Valier
I'd have to say that gravity rather than the inventions was responsible for many of those deaths.
A "near miss" involved Orville Wright. He was demonstrating a new plane when it crashed, killing a man riding with him and seriously injuring Orville.
Your audio is muffler.
Let's make a twitter poll. Should Elon be the first test pilot of Star Ship?
What about the Brazen bull inventor ..
You have to be a real chad to be called 'Karel' and still become a professional stuntman.
Very occasionally, even if you are very smart, there is wisdom in taking the advice of those whom you have placed in your service specifically for the purpose of advising you…
Today health and safety prevents advancement.
1:59 "minor injuries" = multiple fractures
2:54 "serious injuries" = dead
We might not be as far along in some aspects, but there are lots of ways to discover new technology without taking dumb risks. Almost all of these people did stupid things and died. The parachute dude had ample tests that showed his invention didn't work and jumped off the Eiffel Tower anyway, printing press dude kicked a spinning fan belt, flying car dude tried to fly his dumb invention himself and clipped a tree, dude in a drum (what did he actually invent again, a new way to die?) also had tests showing what he was about to do might fail and did it anyway. Rocket guy is the ONLY one who died because of simple failure in his newest invention instead of doing something dumb, like kick his rocket, and a few inches off and he would have survived, it was bad luck and not simply stupidity. By the way, if you try to invent something and all it does is fail and eventually kill you, have you actually invented something?
Don’t do shit Evel Knievel wouldn’t do.
robot ass acting up?
Thank you Simon for recognizing these people properly. The only difference between a bold move and a stupid move is success.
audio is overdriven Simon
Using a Ford Pinto was his first mistake. The Pinto was known to burst into flame in the slightest rear end tap or crash.
Nice.
I bet he was perturbed but not deterred….
Franz Reichelt is duble tragic for the fact the backpack parachute was invented the year before by someone else
A flying pinto?… he deserved to die
To make a omelette you gotta crack a few eggs
Instantly leaves to watch someone jump off Eiffel tower.
A good video, but I'm a little disappointed that you didn't include Thomas Midgely.
Did anyone else find it ironic that an inventor who said his machine was so easy to use that "even a woman" could do it lost his life to that same invention? Just sayin'…
Holy clipping Batman!
Despo
Me @ 9:28 "wow he's gonna get killed by THIS thing!?"
Am I having a deja vu?
Every time I hear about Franz Reichelt, I'm reminded of something a great man once said:
"You might laugh at the dude who thought he'd invented the parachute-coat and threw himself off the Eifel Tower, but what's history going to remember you for, funny man?"
-Yahtzee Crowshaw
Strange…I've lived in Houston all my life and grew up with the AstroDome from it's construction to it's now rotting forgetfulness. I never heard of this barrel business.
Nice distorted mic amateur sound guy…
>Ford pinto combined with cessna skymaster
>Ford
>Cessna
This thing was already doomed from the start.
Your mic is on the way out.
