Angelonia is a fantastic container annual here in central Ohio- I think you’ll love them! They are beautiful, dramatic, and just keep blooming nonstop. Do you plan to also start some annuals from seed?
Happy new year from north bama we had a very cold Christmas had 2 nights single digets and 2 nites teens and 2 days below freezing daytime so it will be interesting who’s damaged or died I’ll know in march but today sunny and 70 go figure looking foward to a new gardening year
I tried vincas for the first time last year in the ground. I also have heavy clay (PA). The purple ones didn’t look as good. The flowers just didn’t look as healthy when they bloomed. The white ones looked beautiful though and I plan on buying more of the white ones this year.
I just wanted to add my two cents, in case you might find it helpful. I grew Supertunia jazz berry last year. They were nowhere near as vigorous as the other vista supertunias. If I had to do it again, I would only grow them in containers where they have less competition. I also grew sunpatiens all over my garden last year. They're beautiful but cannot handle full all day sun and they need to be watered daily. I found vinca did so much better. The more they were blasted by horrible all day sun, the happier they were. They are just standouts in the garden. I also loved the way pentas performed and lambs ear. As for zinnias, I'm really done with them. The butterflies and hummingbirds love them and I feel bad about getting rid of them but the dahlias, divas that they are, are just so much more beautiful and disease free.
Hi Matthew, Glad to see your new video. I am excited for you to try the Supertunia Vista Jazzberry. It is a beautiful color. I grew them last year in the ground and they performed very well. Our soil needs a lot of compost and plus a little Bio-Tone in every hole. I'm going to check out Stockslagers. Thank you for the information about them. It can be difficult hunting down Proven Winners annuals.
My English Laurel Hedge has suffered from the Arctic Blast. Seemingly since the weather has warmed somewhat, the leaves on the hedge are now brown! Do you are any of your followers know if the hedge will be fine once the burned/frost bitten leaves are removed? I have had this hedge for years and it will be difficult to replace…. Thanks for any thoughts from you or your followers. Happy New Year to All!
Good to hear from you 💙💜💙💜
