Pruning can sometimes leave an awkward looking plant so, in some cases, you can do ‘staggered pruning’ – where you leave some stems intact while you chop off the tallest ones. 📷 1) this is my Ruellia makoyana right now; 📷 2) the stumps of the stems I had pruned, now growing new leaves. 📷 3) Previous wildness – although I do love the wild look, I found the plant was using up soil moisture annoyingly fast. More leaves = more transpiration = faster soil moisture usage.
