Most gardeners will face dealing with tomato hornworms within the first year of starting a garden. But many don’t know what to look for except when they are in the “worm” or caterpillar stage. This is what a tomato hornworm pupa looks like. This is the hornworm cocoon, or chrysalis and they can be found hiding in the soil of your garden! This is not only evidence that you had hornworms in your garden during the previous season, but also means you will likely have them again the coming season. This pupa would eventually turn into a large moth and the eggs it lays will grow into tomato hornworms.
