We gave interior designers Lula Galeano, Laura Hodges, and Alvin Wayne a photo of the same home office space – then asked each of them to create a design for it in their particular style, however they pleased. Three artists, one canvas, each bringing something different to the space. See which designer comes closest to creating your ideal home office.

I really liked the actual office in green, because of it's practical layout. The one with the chimney is fantastic but not really an office. And the one with the wallpaper is truly elegant, but lacks shelving. Each design has its own strengths. Thank you for your creativity.
3 very lovely designs, but I have to ask…why are they all obsessed with opened shelving? Lord knows nobody wants to see all that clutter everyday, because yes. It's going to be clutter. We are not going to buy a bunch of fancy ornaments for our office shelves… More cabinets please!
LULA, period.
I was listening and was quite interested, until two of them did something an IT must never do. Which was: changing the window position.
I love the Lula's office color and fire place idea, and love the Alvin furnitures. But I prefer Laura's room to be my office.
The dudes wallpaper choice is just too distracting to be used in a office space.
alvin and lulu took the L both designs were cheeks, laura took the W great office tbh
its an office.
why were all of them missing file storage?
need minimum 3 file cabinets and 2 horizontal cabinets.
do the designers store their home office files on open shelves? files just … out there?
what is all that bric a brac? never put unnecessary items in a small space….its just annoying clutter.
all three were thoughtless designs.
1. remove all horizontal shelves
2. change wall to three quarter herringbone wainscoat.
3. white matte paint double insulated gyp board (for sound proofing) underneath the wainscoat to the ceiling.
4. recessed linear lighting on all walls.
5. install one 4 foot horizontal cabinet to the right of the door.
6. create artificial walls in the center with back to horizontal cabinets.
easily #1. #3 used nothing about the room just pure fantasy for a random room that has nothing to do with the prompt
Lula… it’s an office! Stick to the bloody task!!
Laura all the way, it's so warm and inviting. Functional to work in. I'd add some macrame and a comfortable seating space
what colour green is that?
laura and lula’s offices are my personal favorites. alvin’s kinda just missed the mark for me i don’t think he used the space to his advantage the way the other two did
Laura's space was the best! I liked Lula's but I wish she had used the fireplace section as a desk section because idk about you guys but I have so much paperwork,iPads, and notepads laying around when I work… sometimes it goes onto the floor.. I need a desk! I don't need to get sleepy and cozy in front of a fireplace when I need to be hustling!
I love both Lula and Laura ones. But Laura's design is more functional
Laura has a better experience than the others, cuz her office is more comfortable and functional, Cuz lula's office doesn't even has a desk, how would you work for hours without hurting your back, And Alvin's office makes you feel dizzy by just looking at the walls.
❤
A consideration that wasn’t mentioned is that you need a good background for your video meetings, along with good lighting so that you look professional on camera. The green room was great because the shelves and natural light would look fantastic in a Zoom meeting. The room with the daybed might raise some eyebrows, and the wallpaper pattern might look too busy on camera. Overall it was fun to see the different ways that the same room could be designed. It would be great to see more videos like this!
The more I think about the differences between the Spanish and American designs, the more I realize it is a cultural divide. In spain, they sometimes take siesta's, while in america they're more task masters. Different intended uses for the same theoretical purpose, I love them all.
Please keep this series going!
My name is Lula, I am gal gadot and my style is gal gadot.
Firstly almost 99% of clients will not want to just “move” the window from the right side to the left side. The cost would be astronomical.
Secondly I believe the brief was an “office” not a sitting room so a desk is really required for an office and computer screens.
Having said that I do like Lula’s the most but it’s not really an office more a sitting room.
Just interesting to see 3 different prospective on what can be done in a small space for an office. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come. Hopefully you are finding joy during this holiday season and looking forward to the new year.
Dear AD! Love this series so much. But PLEASE bring back the OG's! They offer such strong, diverse points of view. Really know what they are doing with great, diverse skillsets. They also seem genuinely interested in each others work. And have great personalities that make for good episodes. <3
I love this series, please make more!
One thing is for sure id never hire lula or alvin
Alvin lost me after making a good point about his floor choice. Luna and Alvin seem so hellbent on not making the space a home office 😂 i would‘ve liked to be working in luna‘s room, tbh, although i would nix the fireplace and put a work desk in its place. Laura‘s design is the most functional and the least visually cluttered, but i personally prefer lighter colors for an office, as it‘s easier to find lost pens and paper clips in a bright space.
I love the design option with the red-walled fireplace ( sans the zodiac signs for a touch of class). Can definitely imagine myself using the space! The green option comes in second for me.
