The city expects people who use their services to have a green bin and kitchen pail by July 2023.

  1. I will paint mine black and use it for trash. I have no interest in having a stinky compost bin. This is just more ridiculous spending which should be used for other things…such as fix the trash trucks which are spitting hydraulic fluid by the gallons every time they pass by my house. The oil stains the street. And it happens virtually every week.

  2. So…we can also use these new green bins for "garden waste" like leaves and grass clippings? That part wasn't very clear. We don't have much kitchen waste, and we already are using a composting bin in our backyard. But, we could always use another bin for leaves and grass clippings (which are picked up manually, every 2 weeks, where we live–now, for garden waste, we just use a regular 32 gal plastic trash can).

  3. Over a decade ago, residents in the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii were given compost bins, as well as, regular trash bins.
