This Vegetable Changed Our Lives – and it’s DAY 13 of our 31 Days of Giving
Our 13th gardening giveaway video focuses on the vegetable that really got us started in our gardening experience and introduced us to this amazing gardening community at large.
It was only a few years ago that our garden was about 9 square feet in total size, and for many years before that we hadn’t even considered that gardening could be such an essential part of our lives. But, a green smoothie and an experiment growing some of the key ingredients for that smoothie at our house changed everything for us.
In this video we do some indoor gardening chores while talking about how one smoothie really helped transform us into the gardeners we are today here in zone 5 Wisconsin.
I did make a mistake in the video and say that this was giveaway 14, but don’t worry, we know it is only 13.

Congratulations to the winner!!
Similarly, we started our adult lives unable to start a garden for a number of reasons. Thankfully, we now have a suburban house where we can garden. We started our garden adventure in February 2020 with 3 varieties of tomatoes, and 3 varieties of herbs. My then 8 and 6 year old daughters helped me plant the seeds in seed trays and we set them in a sunny window and waited to see what happened. As soon as the first seeds germinated we were hooked, and the obsession (I mean passion) started for me!
Congratulations to the winner that’s an awesome apron!
Congrats to the winner
Congratulations to the winner that’s a nice apron.

Congratulations to the winner! Hope your plants produce an abundance of apronfuls!
I had planted thousandhead and walking stick kale, but my boy kept trying to climb them. It's been long enough that I don't remember what plant really got me going, but I know it was just after my son's autism diagnosis.
I love curly kale ❣️
Baby spinach
Congratulations winner!
I love the idea of these roo aprons!
Congratulations winner. This looks really cool!
I haven’t grown kale yet. I’m wondering what kind works best to make kale chips? Also I’m trying to fill in gaps in my front yard flower bed. I was thinking I could maybe grow it between the flowers??
thanks! One of my first plants was the kentucky pole bean. I planted some on a trellis leaning against the back porch from seed and by the end of the summer it had grown all over the porch railings and I was snacking on beans while sitting on my porch. I recommend beans for a first gardener because you can grow them in the ground, no growlights inside needed and they grow fast and in about 1 month you can see the little beans forming. I heard you can also saute the leaves, but I never tried that.
congratulations to the winner. can't wait to grow peppers and tomatoes.
I would love to win the next giveaway!
Another great video and giveaway.
