Hi Tony, I love Hornbeam and hopefully in the future I'll make a forest when I have enough experience, Thanks for passing on your Bonsai journey in these videos as I find them not only entertaining but educational I've learned a lot.
That forest is coming along really nicely. I’ve also seen hobbyists that constantly trim back all the branches on their forests to just a couple of buds keeping them extremely compact. I’m really looking forward to watching this develop into the future. Thanks, keep growing
Nice forest. Maybe i would change the outher and back trees to younger and thinner ones in the future to create a more realistic look with better depths.
Nice demo Tony. I have a smaller similar group planted about 3 yrs ago, from Nursery stock. I now have an idea what I need to be doing for onward growth/trimming. Many thanks Tony. Have a great xmas!
Tony i believe that your forest could be doing with being thinned out some by removing around 4 trees it will open up space around other trees that you favour in the composition. again this is just my thoughts and it's your Bonsai collection .im just giving you my thoughts and ideas of what i would like to do with something of the same amount of trees in a composition. PS the 4 that you take out or if you did take out could make a decent composition on a smaller pot .
Great work on this forest Tony. That pot the forest is makes the trees look massive. Not in a bad way, the color just makes the trunks appear older and more stout. I don't want to say it but you will see it eventually. Row closest to camera, 2nd in from our right watching has some inverse tapper about 1/2 way up. Awesome video all together and thank you for sharing
Nice forest! How long have u been doing bonsai? Glad u mentioned peter i watch him all the time also. I learned from him if u put a white paper behind each individual tree u can focus on each one better. Im gonna start a nice 7 tree katsura forest next spring. I had a ueno yama forest but they always die on me. Cant wait to see this in leaf
A nice shape to that forest Tony. The Fun 'n' Games will start when you have to repot it in a few years' time. Will you separate each tree and do individual root work or treat the whole root mass as a single object? I'll await with interest! 👍👍
Hi Tony great teaching video mate, you have done all the right things as far as I can see, cheap project which will make a great forest planting in the future.
Never done a forest and hornbeams are truly lovely trees when they mature a little, especially the root base. Have you got a vision on how it will look in future? The trunks already relatively thick and wonder if it would be hard to balance it to keep the scale or maybe thin the number out further down the road? Am just thinking loud how I am thinking and do not know your long-term idea so keep up the good work. Take care.
Nice one again Tony. V natural-looking. I think I'd remove some of the very lowest branches to raise the canopy a bit and to give the lines of the trunks more space.
That is a really nice forest! I love how dense with trees it is. I could imagine how heavy it would be. Need an engine hoist with nice rubber tires to move those around. Can't wait to see your forest leaf back out!
Holy sheet! That’s a nice forest mate, very inspiring- just watched todays upload too. Where could I acquire a wood working chisel exactly like yours? Cheers!

I think you did a great effort on the camera work mate.
Inspiration for my 15 tree Hornbeam composition I put together this winter using bare root hedging stock.
Great looking forest there Tony! Really like the different size trunks and pruning choices, will look wonderful on a big slab one day!
Awesome forest Tony. It is coming along quite well.

Great looking Forest Tony 👍
Hi tony,I can see a trip to B&M in the spring.
Very interesting seeing forest maintenance and development. My aspen trees are arriving today for hubby's forest. Keep growing.xx
Its developing well Tony – the next big purchase for this will be the pot…or slab?

Thats a great composition Tony. I'll have to give one a try.

Planting groups is achieving something very quickly
