I learned this from another worm farming friend of mine from the West Coast. It’s a very simple hack But has been very useful to me.

  1. That's a good trick. I have a trick also. Here's mine:

I built a tray with a clear plastic bottom. When it's time to harvest, I hang a very bright light over the top of the tray and dig down the top tray until I start seeing worms.

At such time, I turn off the light and cover the top of the bin with an opaque piece of plastic, then I set the bin on a structure, which holds yet another bright light and switch it on. That light comes up from the bottom and guess where the worms go?

Yep, right to the top of the bin where there's no light.

At that juncture, I remove the opaque cover and scoop The Little rascals up.

    Easy peasy.

  2. Thanks worm lady for the harvesting tip. Looks easy. But I can't resist counting them.😁

  3. Sadly ANC cocoons don't look anywhere like that. What you have is a fruit fly pupae.

  4. I have a few questions:

    1) Do you keep indian blue worms? I haven't seen them in any of your videos.
Mine need to be kept in a sealed container at all times. Major pain.

    2) Do you ever have red wigglers or euros crawling out of the bin? Even in the dark?
I'm doing some experiments, but the blues have made it a nightmare.

    3) Can I get on a wait list to purchase the next round of euros and red wigglers?

  5. Thank you for sharing this tip. I have now been doing this instead of my normal way. I now save time to do other this.
    Thank you again Pete.

  6. Actually..little known facts: It was my breakthrough 1978-81 recognized worldwide that forced us to invent Vermicomposting…1981.
Later that year Buckminster Fuller endorsed my breakthrough & they were historymaking events.

So…to let all of you correct your thinking…their is no 'worm poo' and 'worm juice' means you need improvement.

Earthworms uniquely fully encapsulate their exudate so that the rich nutrients are stabilized, without further 'composting', unlike compost & manures.

So they are truly fully stabilized, nutrient capsules.

Thought you might like to know.
Any residue might come from raw materials still in process.

  7. Why is it that my worms thrash around like crazy when disturbed and yours don't? TBH it kinda freaked me out! Like a jumping corkscrew move…
