We are at four of the amazing garden railroads of the Color Country Model Railroad Club in Saint George. As the weather HERE outside is PERFECT we are playing trains!

First up the railroad of Werner Balsterholt. A small double loop, tucked alongside the garage. Fun consent operations, yet with sidings and many switching options.

Next up is the backyard railroad of Larry Schneider. Covers the entire backyard! Able to run two trains, alternate between four trains, AND a trolley! And an amazing photo backdrop of Saint George’s Red Mountain and Pine Valley Mountain. Lots of structures, functional power lines on power poles, and an ever-expanding mainline.

Onto the raised layout of Dick Saunders. Both raised AND ground-level garden railroad. Beautiful scratch-built wood structures and long trestles. Continuous running by both an old west mine train and narrow-gauge dog-bone style mainline. Such attention to details! SUCH FUN!!!

Then off to the railroad of Tim Fitch. Nationally known HUGE railroad in his backyard overlooking the amazing scenery Southern Utah is known for. Tim is adding 800 new feet of track. Check out the new areas! Two desert bluffs with a lake and two waterfalls. Several welded steel truss bridges including one for people to walk over to reach the inner parts of the railroad. Enought talk.. LETS LOOK!

  4. Those are some excellent looking and running garden railroads just have two questions or the engines on battery power and remote control and how do you throw the switches manually or do they have a setup to throw them remotely and a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your lovely wife πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ„πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ‘

  5. I want to wish you both a πŸŽ…Merry ChristmasπŸŽ…. I would also consider your layout a garden layout being outside, and you use trees plus your grapevines as part of your background. I hope you are having a fantastic Christmas day, and those Christmas tamales looked really good that Karyn made. Be safe and see you on Tuesday. πŸ‘πŸš‚πŸŽ…πŸ™‚πŸŽ…πŸš‚

  6. Those are some very nice layouts, with a lot to see packed into the space. Thank you bringing us along for the ride.

I find it amusing people arguing over the difference between a garden railroad and an outdoor railroad… in my mind they are nearly one in the same. Although with an outdoor railroad the scale and gauge may well be much larger.

Merry Christmas to you, may the New Year be filled with joy and happiness.

  7. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year Dale and Karyn from Alberta Canada Love all your videos, looking forward for the new year

  8. Wow!!! Great looking outdoor…er…garden railroads!!! 😏 My favorite is this one πŸ‘‰ 14:18. And, what a GREAT looking collection of brass engines!!! I could pull up a lounge chair with a tall glass of lemonade and sit and watch these trains run around the track all day. 😊 Nice video! I enjoyed it! πŸ‘
