  1. my Bernina 430 QE is 16 years old. never been in the shop. i make quilts on it too. i have about 8 inches of space to quilt

  2. Spending time watching your videos is just like spending time with a dear friend. Your family is delightful and I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎆

  3. Love your BeautiFULL quilt. Hint I keep more than five full bobbins ready. Blessed in Pennsylvania… Merry CHRISTmas and happy Twenty Twenty Three ♥️🎄♥️

  4. I almost spit out my coffee, lol. $900 – are they delusional ? I am not a quilter but I so appreciate the amount of work and love that goes into handmade things. My mom and her sister were knitters, did crochet and made clothing, etc. That quilt is absolutely gorgeous and you should be super proud of it. I love it all and the back is beautiful. I love that Scott and William cook together. That's one of the things I had my 3 boys learn back in the day. Young men need to know how to take care of themselves – even if they get married. With both spouses working, men need to pitch in. The art lesson was fun, Scott. Love from Chicagoland.

  5. $900 my husband would have said are they made of gold ! They have gone crazy. I'd say someone is trying to get rich off of stupidity and it's not us. I loved the throws you bought. As for the quilt you have come a long way baby as they say in the movies. It's beautiful. Can't wait to see you sew the apron. Merry Christmas. 🎄⛄🎄❤️

  6. Love the back of the quilt too! Glad your mother is going to get it. What a gift of love. You are doing so well, Sophie.

  7. Beautiful quilt Sofia! The details in the stitching absolutely fabulous! Make one for your bedroom.

  8. $900 🙀 it’s been awhile since I’ve had something matted and framed but I wanna say it was like $100 for something like that. So Ridiculous . The posters are gorgeous by the way.

  9. I love that quilt beautiful! You put hard work into it I would buy it from you if you sold it. You can't tell you love quilting

  10. Yes, it takes a lot to custom quilt, but your quilt is a sampler so there is not a quilt pattern that fits all blocks. Yes you could do an all over pattern, but that is ignoring the piecing design. I do FMQ on all my quilts also, so I know how much work it is. But the end result is worth it. Looks really nice.

I started on a 5.5” harp also, then I got a bigger machine. First a BabyLock Jazz 2 and then a Juki. The latter is straight stitch only, so I still need my BabyLock for zig-zag, but I love having a heavy duty machine. I was also running my initial machine with the 5.5 inch harp into the ground. FMQ can be hard on a machine, but oh so fun.

    Merry Christmas!

  11. Your quilt is WOW! I knew Michael’s custom framing would be a ridiculous fortune. 9 years ago I was going to have my younger son’s family wedding photo framed by Michael’s and it was an outrageous cost. I ended up buying a frame and doing a good job myself for $16. Loving all your videos.

  12. You shall make a quilt to raffle off to pay for a new sewing machine. I know I would buy tickets!

  13. Oh my, why is framing so expensive? My daughter passed away in June; she was an artist and I had a few pieces of hers I wanted to get professionally framed. We went through picking our options, without anything fancy I might add, using their huge discounts they always seem to have with their framing, and almost fell over with the ridiculous price. So, went and picked out some frames (marked down too, I might add), got the mat custom cut (because her paintings were not perfectly even) and put them together ourselves. Saved like $600! It's absolutely ridiculous how expensive it is!!

  14. Yes, your quilt is beautiful, even the back ! I worked with a lady at the library that liked to do "whole cloth quilts". She had made one for each of her grandchildren. The design is what "made" the quilt !! She totally hand quilted them. My mother also made a "Lonestar" quilt by hand and she always quilted all of her quilts by hand. I still have her quilting frames but lack the talent and patience to make one. I managed a baby quilt for my eldest son, my Mom pitched in and helped me finish it as my abdomen was increasing greatly in size !

  15. OMG you could sell your quilts for beaucoup d'argent out there…..I know there is nothing better than a quilt to keep you warm in Canadian winters….LOL lovely work on that quilt…..♥

  16. This will be a rambling, hope not to offend in anyway! I love your attitude! You accept (or not) voice your opinion and move on! I LOVE that! You are so talented and SMART! I love that. You accomplish so much every video! You look like you have lost weight, beautiful. Things I wish i knew about you: how old you are, how did you and your husband meet, how long have you lived in the USA, what is your work job? I am 79 and feel like you could be my granddaughter! I am so proud of you! Merry Christmas!

  17. Great free motion quilting, Sofia. My sewing machine has the same throat space as yours and I stick mainly to table runners or baby quilts. I don't know how I'd manage a big quilt like yours.

  18. Huge kudos to you, Sophia, for the quilting on that awesome quilt ! Sorry you lost the 'chicken bobbin race', but you did an amazing job on that ! That is definitely my downfall, I have so many tops, but have not quilted the vast majority of them ! My bad ! Maybe I can sell them on Etsy !! Merry Christmas to you and all the family ! 🌲

  19. Oh my Sophia! The quilt is stunning! You did an amazing job! Thank you for another wonderful video!

  20. Get some copper colored (or whatever metal color) rub 'n buff for the frames. You could cover the wood completely or just highlight some areas.

  21. I made many a quilt on my machine that is the same size as yours so I know what an accomplishment that is! Bravo! It's beautiful!

  22. Art is so subjective. In my bedroom I chose natural themes.. serene forest scenes and Audubon paintings. If I’m sick in bed I find this type of art comforting.

  23. This is turning out so beautiful. I watched you make each block, and this is a lot of work. The quilting is fantastic. Great job Sophia!!!

  24. The quilt is gorgeous, what an accomplishment on that machine. You are amazing! Michael’s framing prices are shocking. DIY is the way to go, there are all sorts of products you can use to get the metal look you want. Can’t wait to see them finished. Happy Holidays to you & family.
