On the Elden Ring debate:
I think the reason I hate not being told what to do in a game like Elden Ring is because it makes me feel anxious. I don't really like wasting my time in a game, and to me it feels like I might spend hours of my life that could be spent on something productive, only to find I didn't get anywhere and have to spend even longer than I wanted to.
It also just sucks to feel like there's nothing clearly important to do. Obviously I'm supposed to kill enemies, but most of them are beyond my capacity.
Obviously I'm supposed to move the game forward, but there is technically no "forward." There's nothing technically to do "first" which makes me feel like I can't do anything.
I think this game is up there with decent to good Doom clones. I think a few more weapons and less spongy enemies would make it better. But the mood of the tame reminds me a little bit of Blood just a bit less gorey. I gotta recommend you check out Civvie 11 Pro Blood series, that always gets a good laugh out of me and I think you would enjoy it.
You should do the Still Life episodes of Ross's game Dungeon. they are technically Christmas themed heh
