Growing celery in a raised bed garden, buckets and most any container gardening. Container Gardening, Raised Bed Garden, elevated Gardening and tote Gardens, Vertical Garden in buckets can be the best and easiest way to grow tons of food, if we keep celery OUT.

  1. I just did a trade for celery. I put it in the same row as the Scarlett Runner beans. Should I be taking it out?

  2. That's good to know about celery being root-aggressive. I've only grown it Kratky-style. I grew it last year in 2 different 5 gal. buckets. No holes in the buckets, of course, but just water and masterblend mineral solution. I was amazed to grow celery. I didn't need to add water except maybe once a week during the hot weather. Hey, Robbie, try the Kratky method. There are different solutions you can get to add to your water.

  3. Sad to say, I've never even seen celery seeds anywhere here in upper east Tennessee…I wish I had that problem…I love it.

  4. Hi Robbie, what do you suggest to use to kill whatever is eating holes. In my 🫑 bean plants, basil, even my dahlias.
Nothing is visible to see what could be eating my plants. I’m sure you have a natural combination to solve the problem.
Thank you so much. Kathy from the great PNW.

  5. Hi Robbie!! You have inspired me!! I went out and bought tubs for starting my gardening and the things I need for the four solar pumps I got from Amazon earlier this week. I also now have four hummingbird feeders for the pretty little things.
I have a question about double planting celery. What if you plant it in the lower section and planted something else in a pot sitting on top? Would that work, do you think? I was also thinking that the drainage holes should be maybe a couple inches up from the bottom, instead of the normal lower area.
I love your channel, your cheerfulness and your enthusiasm for gardening!!
Than you so much for sharing everything you do!!

  6. I wish all plants would grow like celery. Thank for sharing the valuable information about celery growing habits.

  7. I did not know that about celery. In fact, I never thought about growing celery! Thanks for enlightening us!

  8. Oh yay!!! This is a great video. I grew celery and LOVED the beautiful flowers/seeds! But I prepared for what might happen next! Hahaha i learn so much from you Robbie! You are SO SPECIAL and BLESSED! 🧡❤️💜💙💚

  9. Love all your videos, I need your help. I just picked up a large, concrete birdbath, The top is very large, scalloped design, with a few 1/ 16 cracks all the way through at some points where water will be. I want to repair this, what cement would be best, you seem to have a lot of experience repairing concrete birdbaths, Thanks for all your help.

  10. Haha I wouldn’t mind some big celery. I mostly kill celery. I had better luck with 13 year old dill seeds. I am down to 2 struggling celery plants. They both overwintered from last year and are tiny. One is down to a tiny stalk. I think it is on its way out. I added a pot to shade its soil. I should probably just start again. I had some beautiful celery when it was cooler but in spring, one of the edible chrysanthemums outcompeted them. All dead now. Chrysanthemum went to seed and did not survive the heat, but I guess I have a lot of chrysanthemum seeds. One day, I will have beautiful celery! Maybe!

  11. I tried growing celery with carrots, but the celery never grew. I think the carrots crowded them out. I will try again next year with its own tub

  12. Thank You so much for this info , I have two brand new Celery plants about to be planted , have never tried growing before now I know what to do and not to do 😃👍

  13. I was delighted to see The Celery video this morning 😁 Thanks Robbie. So it spreads like those walking onions of yours if it goes to seed. I love celery seed.

  14. Celery is good. but i dont grow celery. i trade veggies off with another Gardener for celery. We have lots of community gardens in our area. due to high food prices. Our local schools and community centers are growing veggies. Which is Awesome. I did not know of all these things you said in this video, Man that celery is sucking the life out of everything and to top it off it needs lots of watering. Celery is so delicious though. in our Tuna and Egg salad sandwiches, like you said soups & stir fry. or Celery stalk with Peanut butter and raisins or cheese ?? Thanks for the advice and Warning Robbie. Have a Nice day Dear Lady. Nora.

  15. What if my celery is in a raised garden bed, will it effect the plants near it by stealing all of its water and nutrients? I literally just planted the celery butt that I started in the house but it is near a tomato plant.I don’t want to lose my tomato plant.

  16. Your videos are invaluable to me!! I just can't get enough. What's more, your viewers, too, are a wealth of information. Thank God for leading me to this channel!

  17. Great info.. I am a work in progress on container gardening. I'm in hot valley in AZ.. I'm thinking of trying celery again.. but I'll do it later in summer and I'll pay attention to water and space.

  18. So glad I caught this video. This is my first year growing celery and potted up over twenty plants (couldn’t bear to cull the extra seedlings). Most of my pots are sitting along the edge of my lawn. So, I will need to be diligent in not letting them go to seed so that I don’t have celery growing everywhere next year! It is interesting to see how much water, nutrition, space the plants need. The containers with a single plant are doing great and growing nicely. However, the containers that have 2-5 plants in them are so much smaller and require lots more water. It is interesting to see how different the plants are simply due to less space/soil for them to grow.

  19. I am so glad that I saw this because I started container gardening mainly because my dog likes to eat everything and I wound up putting celery in with onion and romaine lettuce. I really just started that so it hasn't had time to take over the tote. Can onion grow in the bucket or will I need a tote and I have the same question for romaine lettuce as I have never grown either one of those before.

  20. I randomly put some celery I had grown from a celery bottom from the supermarket in a big container with mint in very early spring and they're BOTH growing, for now lol. I guess I can say as time has passed and the weather has gotten warmer the celery is winning out in health probably taking from the mint. Mint being pretty tough, too, is probably the only thing that could have lasted this long with it:)

  21. Robbie, i am so glad to hear you talk abt Celery… bc I have 6 celery plants in an apx. 9" round container about 12" tall, and i water and fertilized it but then some days it looks like the leaves are turning yellowish brown… Do i need to kerp fertilizing & if do with what? And do i need to move the 6 plants(which might be root bound by now), to a much bigger pot?
(The plants are all abt a foot tall.)

  22. Hi Robbie, I was wondering what variety of celery do you grow in your rainbow garden? I am looking to start some celery in my garden and have no experience on which type to grow! I'd love a more experienced opinion. The variety you are growing does seem very prolific! Thanks so much.
