  1. We moved here to Port Charlotte from Colorado in July of 2021. We love it here. We haven't turned the heat on yet and we love having the lanai sliders and house windows open all winter. Meanwhile, right now in Boulder Colorado the low overnight is minus 8 degrees and the high today is going to be 2 degrees. I do have the inconvenience of having to cover up all my temperature sensitive plants because of the cold front the next several days but it's supposed to be a manageable 35 degrees — way better than below zero for sure.

  2. Good morning, I live in Windermere and I have a couple of Banana plants but I am worried about the cold spell will it kill the plants . How can I protect them. I have a ice cream plant and it has banana on it for the first time hoping they survive the cold. If a banana plant flower in the fall (November) will the banana grow over winter and be able to eat in the spring? Thanks for all you do, I love your channel. Kate

  3. I really love your cute shirt!. I so love, love, love these videos and appreciate that you took the time to make all of them.

  4. Yes, I am currently looking for a house that has an established food forest! Don't rip them out 🙂

  5. I sold my house in Ohio that had over 100 fruit trees and bushes. It helped me sell the house and make enough to buy a house in Florida. Just have to find the right buyer. People loved all the plants. I am much happier in Florida though. Gardening is hard here. The soil is full of root-knot nematodes, it's lacking in nutrients and organic matter, and it gets really hot! I love it though. I can say, I've never had an easier time growing broccoli, lettuce, kale, cabbage, mustard greens and such as I do here. They grow awesome, no pests eating them up. It's so much easier than up north. The more I amend the soil with organic matter, the less the nematodes will be.. I hope. I ordered seed for resistant plants, I'm hoping it works out🤞

  6. I'm not moving to Florida, but Yucatán has a similar (probably hotter climate), but it isn't that I want the heat, I'm moving for other reasons. It is nice to have a change when entering a new stage of life though. Still looking for info on hedge and privacy plants for the topics with monsoon.

  7. Your channel is definitely a blast from the past of like 2013 YouTube where people would make videos and talk back to people in the comments, cool to see the small

  8. For a great Florida seed source, (and live plants, including genuine FL natives IF you are able to pick up in St Pete) I have to recommend (again, cause she is a local young mom who is really good at what she does) Elise at Urban Harvest. Her seeds are curated from Baker Creek, Southern Seed Exchange, Echo, and many others, including a few from her garden, but she only offers plants that will do well in Florida. There is NO markup on the seeds themselves, but $5 shipping and handling on the order. I have had better luck germinating seeds from her and from her sources than from misc. Northern seed suppliers, and would swear by her live plants.
BTW, have I said how much I love, love, love Vlogmas? Thanks for all the hardwork. And the food for thought!

  9. What is this big black and yellow butterfly trying to put eggs on my oranges. I shooed her away. On the small green orange — south fla

  10. I sold my house in Crystal Beach 3 yrs ago. I had no grass, lots of native and exotic tropicals, 15 varieties of bamboo and it was beautiful! New owners leveled the yd and installed 6000 sq ft of turf grass!!!! Oh my! So sad.

  11. I love your videos and I follow you religiously. In fact, been here 24 yrs but this is my first veggie garden, thanks to you and other FL gardeners!

  12. Ive baught a few trees from Sow Exotic they have great trees and they are here in Florida. I got a blood orange tree, a meyers lemon tree, a blue grape tree, and a black pepper vine and a few different types of blueberry bushes

  13. We lived in Michigan for 50 years, and just relocated to Florida three years ago. I have to say I’ve seen more crazy things in three years in Florida than I’ve seen in my lifetime in Michigan. it was definitely a culture shock but worth every bit, I absolutely love Florida sunshine and will never go back

  14. Love your channel. I’ve moved from south Florida having a much bigger lot than my new construction home here in Winter Garden. I planted a garden that attracts birds and bees, hummingbirds etc on a much smaller scale and to provide privacy. We are sadly lacking in choices of where to buy plants other than lowes. I travel 50 mins to a nursery. My question isn’t a gardening one but where did you buy your beautiful top? 😊

  15. So much good information. Thanks you so much. Talking about seeds. Can you tell me where I can get my hands on puertorriquen black bean seeds. I looked in several places and they had none. Are they called differently? My family loves beans and I would like to grow them this summer.

  16. Sixth generation born in Sarasota- we had Drivers Ed in school my kids had Drivers Ed. A true Floridian knows it is the Northerners that cause the accidents. Our roads can not handle the great migration south with Covid.

  17. Wow you nailed it! People want what they don’t have! I moved from Indiana 23 years ago. I don’t you about anyone else but the more I embrace and appreciate what I have the more I love it! Learning about natives has been what has helped make gardening more successful and enjoyable for me! Thank you for all the help along the way Wild Floridian! 🤗

  18. I MOVED TO THE TAMPA BAY AREA IN 91' FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE AND I LOVE IT. ALL IS MISS IS THE LEAVES CHANGING BUT THAT IS IT. I FOUND TRYING TO GROW VEGETABLES DIFFICULT SO I GAVE UP UNTIL AND GREW FLOWERS AND SUCCULANTS. 3 YEARS AGO, I TRIED GROWING VEGETABLES IN CONTAINERS AND RAISED BEDS AND FOUND THAT WAS THE TRICK AND I AM NOW ENJOYING MY GARDEN.

  19. Thank you so much for your videos!! My back problems have still prevented me from being in my butterfly garden, but I am loving sitting by the fire and watching you! I have especially learned so much about native plants.
