I enjoy gardening as much as my houseplants. This year, I finally extended my garden bed to a U-shaped garden bed. I grow a lot of vegetables, fruit and herbs. So far, I have 20 tomato plants, 16 pepper plants, 4 bittermelon plants, 3 cucumber plants, 5 types of beans, 3 winter melon plants, 1 fuzzy melon, 3 luffas, 50 carrots, 3 strawberries, and a lot of beats, basil, lettuce, and kale! In addition, I started composting this year! I have so much fun gardening this year!

I love this! My family is Chinese and they grow their own wintermelon, luffa and other veggies. I find it very hard to eat bittermelon (my mom stuffs green ones with meat) but I didn't know that the white ones were less bitter 😀

Winter melon has male and female flowers. The flower you showed with long bulb underneath is a female. Male flowers have no bulb. You can hand fertilize by taking pollen from male and place it on female stamen I think that’s what it is called or let the bees do it. If successful, the bulb part grows into a melon.

Best to have each of them its own trellis. You can buy cattle panels from home depot or farm supply store. They are taller than those white wooden trellises. they are so crowded and won't have good ventilation that way.
