The blast has rolled through my friends and we are hunkered down. 25 mile an hour sustained winds with about 30 to 35 mile an hour gusts. Bitter cold, and will become dangerous this evening. South of us get ready. Praying for you all.
Dallas here. All my lettuce, kale and broccoli are completely frozen solid. Will have to start early next year. We brought our 6 chickens and rooster inside.
Hey there—hasn't fully hit down here yet. That was amazing watching it come in on ya. Think we're almost finished being 'hunkered down kind of ready.' When I feed the cats they'll be in crates and moved into the kitchen. The pups and I will be there also. Will use mr buddy heater and we'll do fine. Will keep water dripping. Have a couple of things in crock pots to generate some heat and stopped the dishwasher before the drying cycle and opened it for the heat and moisture. Still can't through to anyone on my email and phones are spotty. Some texts going thru. I promise I will email you Jill when I can get through. Love you all Jesus bless.
Those 40+ mph were something fierce today. Super surprised at the snow flurries earlier this morning. Those wind gusts driving were dangerous. Great reminder about keeping blankets in the car. Hope chickens make itπ
horrible here in royse city; 13 right now; even with the heater in the rabbitry my newly installed auto water system froze solid; all the faucets are on. i really was not prepped for a loss of water. I hope no pipes freeze and the power stays on; this is too early for this garbage
Chickens do fine with cold temps as long as you keep the wind off of them. Itβs better to not put heat on them at all. Mine are in the heartless coop, our temp this morning in extreme North West Missouri was -3 and right now it is -7.
Here in Oklahoma temperature dropped this morning 34 to 26, in one hour, electricity was going off and on approximately 25 times, wind gusts 50-60mph, I turned my water off and drain my pipes it is now 1 degree, everyone be safe God bless
Hi Jill, 9:40 pm in Denton 10 degrees with wind chill of -8!! What does the heavy watering before we the freeze do? Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with the process. Thanks. Hope you're staying warm. I pray the grid holds. Think a cold is trying to get me but staying warm in bed forcing liquids. Went out once a nd let car run 2 minutes, too cold for more. Will do again tomorrow. Started right up and it was 12 then. Much love. Great video!! God bless.
I hope everything went well for you . We had a shed get shredded by the wind and then the shed took out the fence between the chicken coop and my container garden and then destroyed some of my raised beds and a tower planter full of strawberries . When the weather warms up right after Christmas we will be able to get out to start the clean up . We had wind gusts up to 70 mph and we are about 40 miles north of Wichita Falls just over the Oklahoma line. I am glad we did not get any precipitation with it . Stay safe and warm .
Currently at 11PM, we are now getting snow, sleet and bitter cold here. Our heaters are on, and backups are ready for us if power is to go out. Tomorrow is supposed to get -6 at night. We are bracing for it. Our chickens are not going to like it outdoors tomorrow so we will try to keep them from flying out as they do.
Did I see a 5-in-1 on the pole? I know you have a Davis weather station also! I have a Davis Vantage Vue, Ambient WS-2902D & a WeatherFlow! My favorites are the Ambient WS-2902D & the Davis!!
Bring the chicks into a bathroom in the house. β€ I had to leave my 3 avocado plants, I planted from seeds. I couldnβt bring them inside. They are in the UN heated greenhouse. I covered them with 3 huge black garbage bags, but itβs only 6 degrees with a high of 28, and supposed to be colder tonight. Everything in the garden is covered with cardboard boxes, a lightweight tarp, and a heavy duty tarp over that. ππ Iβve been praying for every gardener. Stay safe and warm yβall.
Our power goes off for last 2 days for about a hour or so, here in VA. Thanks for all the videos & updates been watching a couple of years now Have a blessed day π

Your chickens will be fine. I have had chickens for years and have never given them a heater, they adjust great to cold temps. Stay warm.
