The reason that you can't pump gas in New Jersey was because a man was filling up his car with fuel and the car caught on fire and he wasn't able to save the family inside the car so him and the family burned up they passed a law so that nobody could pump their own gas in New Jersey Oregon thing I'm not sure of

Can you buy alcohol without a prescription there!? I went to Minnesota once and learned about some things
and blue laws still in effect! Car dealerships and other business close on Sundays. Once i left NJ i literally had to ask someone how you pump gas? and when i went back to visit NJ had to ask guy to pump ugh. much attitude grunts later i had some gas. Attendants look at you. what do you want?! lol
I grew up here in Jersey and lived in Florida for 10 years , my 2 oldest sons are floridians , I cant stand my home state of Jersey , Im going back to florida as soon as my grand kids are of age.
I really miss getting gas and the attendant would fill me up, clean the windshield, check my oil. I sure miss that.
So interesting we have always had self serve pump gas here and back in the day we did have some that would pump gas for you if that's what someone wanted. If there are any still around I am not sure where and there may be one or two somewhere.
Oh Lord!!!!!! yeah back in 2007 drove up to washington state stopped in oregon to get gas got out pumped our gas and next thing I hear "HEY TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Me turning around in a circle trying to figure out wtf is going on come to find out the attendant came walking up to us PO'd because we were gassing our own vehicle. 🤦♀He informed us that it's full serve in oregon. Yeah you would've thought we killed someone at that point the dude was UPSET.
If I have to I will pay more not to pump my gas lol. It stinks. I love full service. If I go to Philly someone else has to pump for me😂😂😂😂

I've been to Jersey loved Jimmy Buffs Italian hot dogs! But couldn't pump gas. My ex mother in law came to visit we needed gas and she was freaking out bc told her not full service bc she's never pumped gas a day in her life. My ex husband told me when we went Jersey it's illegal. Lol I miss the full service at HESS station in south Florida where I grew up. I HATE pump gas. A man use hang around a my small town in SC and would pump it I loved it and always threw him few bucks bc worth it to me. I use to fill up when my boyfriend was with me bc that was the man's job. Guess can't say that anymore. Lol
It's funny. I grew up here in Texas. I have been to Oregon frequently because my son's live there. Personally as a Texan I can't imagine not doing things thar I can do myself, it seems wasteful and lazy. I know that may seem weird to you but Texas people of my age believe in being self sufficient. Not so much those that are younger.
They dont allow you to it most rural towns in Oregon. I happy i dont have to pump my own gas. Besides the job loss it would cost I feel safer not getting out.
I always thought it was great going to Jersey and having them pump my gas, it was great takes me back to when I was a kid, in the 60s and early 70s they pumped your gas for you, love it.
