Have you ever heard of bamboo? Bamboo is a very beautiful plant that is often used indoor in decorative pots. However, if not properly taken care of, it can become an invasive pest that can take over your yard or garden space. The worst part about this plant is that it will grow back no matter how many times you cut it down!
So what’s the best way to kill bamboo plants? Here are several ways to get rid of them for good! Note: chemicals and pesticides should only be used as an absolute last resort. The reason being that they are actually more dangerous to humans than they are to the actual bamboo plant itself.
STEP 1 – PREPARE THE AREA AND ENERGIZE THE LAND
Bamboo requires a lot of nutrients to grow, so it’s important to prepare the soil before you start this process. We recommend that you till the land, then spread compost or manure over the ground. This will give your yard or garden space an extra boost of nutrition and allow other plants to flourish! It is also suggested that you build a physical barrier to prevent the bamboo from spreading out further. For example, if there are small holes in your fence, make sure to cover them with rocks or small logs. The more bamboo roots are contained within one area, the less likely they are to survive once you begin removing them!
STEP 2 – CUT DOWN THE BAMBOO SHOOTS
This step is pretty self explanatory. All you have to do is cut down the bamboo shoots that are already growing within your garden or yard! You can use any type of gardening tool, whether it be a hoe, shovel, axe, etc. It’s suggested to go for harvesting outside of peak hours because at these times, less energy will be needed to remove the bamboo shoots.
STEP 3 – PREPARE THE BAMBOO FOR BURNING OR COMPOSTING
Now that you’ve harvested all of the bamboo plants in your area, it’s time to prepare them for burning or composting.

Great share 👍
An alternate method is to allow the shoot to reach about 2-3 feet tall then cut the top off and pour/squirt full strength glyphosate into the vessel. This allows the plant to draw the chemical into its system.
