My dermatologist moved from Arizona to the Pacific Northwest because of the high rate of skin cancer in the PNW. When I asked her to elaborate, she replied that the cloudy weather creates a false sense of security. In sunny areas, folks are more likely to protect themselves. Also, in the PNW (northern latitudes), the sun shines at a low angle, hitting us for several hours in the morning and evening. Since people have been told that the worst time to be outside is the middle of the day, they assume that the other hours are safe, or at least safer. I now know that those “safer” hours can age the skin and cause melanoma. It took a while to figure out how to suit up, but I’m now happy with my routine. I forgot to mention in the video that I wear oversized uv protective clothing because it keeps me cooler than snug fitting clothes. At another time I’ll talk about my diagnosis and recovery journey. For now, I wish you health and happy gardening! KEEP DREAMING IN THE GARDEN!
I look forward to your comments!
