📷 2) #whatmyplantsees – of you want to better understand light, stop trying to judge brightness. Humans are poor judges of absolute brightness because our eyes adapt extremely well. Instead, just ask yourself “WHAT can my plant see?” Only cacti need to see the sun for as many hours as possible – this is “direct sun”. For the majority of your foliage plants, they need to see as much of the sky as possible, this is how you get “bright indirect light”. For this example, I’m using the fact that the window faces south, so the sun shines ON the window. By putting this plant at a sharp angle, the plant gets the light from seeing the window lit by the sun without seeing the sun directly. Understand light conceptually and then we can talk about measuring it…
