The backyard garden has gone through another phase change. Time for another update!! The corn have all been harvested. This was a good corn year– ears were mostly filled with kernels and there was no worm damage. The pie pumpkin are ripening and the vines are dying back.
It is now time for the watermelon to take the spotlight. The Sugar Baby and Yellow Mountain Sweet watermelon have melons on them. Japanese cucumbers are being grown for the first time. They look like they will become really long cucumbers. It will be interesting to see how long they become.
Despite the goodness with the corn, it has been a rough year for the okra. We’re in July now and the okra are still very small. A couple of Stelley okra are in the ground now and are playing catch up.
These plants and many others are seen in this backyard garden tour. See you in the garden!

Well nice update!!:) i have some double daylilies as well!!:)
I'm growing ginger right now and it's been in the planter for a month and I swear it's only gotten about two leaves. Do you start turmeric by a piece that you bought in the grocery or some other method, Brian?
what do you love most about plants?
As far as the Mystery Vine at 9:30, Look up "Fig Ivy" or "Creeping Fig" and compare it to what you have.

Hello, Letty, neighbor to the north 🙂 Thanks for commenting, I am glad that you're enjoying the videos. Thanks also about the tomato. A seed swap would be fun though I wonder if I should be taking anymore seeds =P Why do not we take this offline to brian@neverenoughdirt.com To be fair to everyone else, I can at the very least send you some seeds for shipping and handling. Hope that sounds good.
