All very nice to see and at a very exciting time of year. Our tropicals (UK) have been slow to start even with the hot weather because they didn't like to dry out so quickly. Wow, you seemed to have really throttled back on tropicals already Bill. Mind you, they are usually approaching their best the week before the first frosts. I've always admired your Ensete's and Alocasias though. We in the UK couldn't get away with growing all those Hostas because the slugs pepper them with lacey holes. We use slug pellets and the frogs – in a terrible state of decline eat them and die, so we can't pellet them.
You're great mate, and I always thoroughly enjoy your garden tour videos.
The backyard garden is looking very good. Don't like the boxwood edging idea. When are we going to see you in that hot tub?
If the three-in-a-bed tomatoes dry out too quickly you might find a bowl to set the big tub in will help you. Oh my word, your plumeria's look incredible!! Love the Amorphophalus in the top tub too – what an original idea!!
I have the African Sunset Canna and I'm confused, it is taking so long to grow compared to my outer,. No flowers yet.
Yes the cool nights this summer and the very cold Spring have not been ideal. (Near Collingwood Ontario) That 12c night 2 nights ago freaked out my limelight hydrangeas. The leaves towards the middle were an awful colour and the next day totally yellow and laying on the ground. Crocosmia 😍 I bring a chair out to them and sit and stare forever. Lucifer is doing wonderful (didn't bloom 1st year) but I've yet to see Saffron Fire buds, hopefully soon 🤞🏻 Where did you get the Cannas with the striped leaves? Me thinks I need those in my life 😁. 3 of my Amaryllis that didn't bloom this winter have now just come into bloom. Does that mean they won't bloom again this winter?
Your backyard is beautiful. I can’t believe you’ve been there 5 yrs. Thank you for the tour. Happy growing!
Thanks Bill 🌸💚🙃 Things are looking good!🌸💚🙃
Boxwood borders just look too 'formal' for such a small garden. I actually _Like your Ageratum border.
suggestion: the area of Wet/Soggy soil would be the _Perfect place for a Papyrus… Love their airy/architectural growth plus blowing in the wind would add interest. like your pretty Dill.
Hi Bill, Your monkey puzzle tree is looking great! Do you bring it inside for the winter? The winter frost killed mine. I believe that this last winter was colder than usual, keep in mind I'm in zone 9b (california) and not one of my peonies bloomed this year. So, don't be so hard on yourself…….the weather has a lot to do with how plants grow, from year to year. With that said, may I suggest, you might want to fertilize your banana trees. Banana tree are heavy feeders! Plants that don't take off in spring…….could probably use a dose of vitamin B-1. Take care.
Beautiful garden😍🌼⚘️🏵🌴🌸
I remember they say don't fertilize ur bougainvillea for it will not flowers
Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us all. 😌
Sorry to hear you had to scale back on your tropicals Bill, I remember how big your Abyssinian Banana and Thailand giant used to grow in the past, amazing center piece plants! out of curiosity what growing zone do you live in? im in zone 5a and still fighting the good fight growing my bananas and elephant ears every year but having to dig them up and put them in my basement and having to replace most of them every 2-3 years due to root rot and spider mites, I just cant quit my tropicals but am stuck living in west Michigan 🙁
💚
