The rain finally quit long enough for us to do our Christmas tradition of greening the house. We love using greenery from outside to celebrate here in the mountains of Appalachia.

I love all the greenery that you’ve turned into beautiful arrangements…was sweet that you shared the story of your childhood about the boxwoods…I do remember not being appreciative of the simple things while growing up, but sure am grateful now…I love being reminded of my childhood memories!!
Glad you came to appreciate Granny's boxwoods, Tiper! How much did Matt complain about being asked to put the swag up?
It’s so great to see what reminds me of my dad and his family and unfortunately I only got to spend a very short time with him but they were also a musical family and were very good and a wonderful sense of humor. So thank you again for your sharing of your story and your life. Merry Christmas 🎁
PS thanks for the great corn bread recipe. ❤
My mom always decorated with fresh greens, and nothing else would do. I can still smell the pine. Wonderful memories. Your home is so welcoming and cozy. I especially love all the wood. Merry Christmas !
What a fun video to watch today! Greening up the house for Christmas is such a special thing to do for the holidays. The swag you ladies made looks amazing and Matt, you did a wonderful job hanging it up. Corie, I absolutely love the hat you're wearing in the video. Merry Christmas!
Tipper, we were ALL bratty younguns at one time. I used to get so mad at Aunt Betty when we'd be driving in town and she'd choose to take Main Street, instead of the "much faster" Morris Boulevard. I didn't appreciate the thousands of memories that road held for her. Yes, now I take slow Main Street EVERY chance I get, and I feel a little closer to a woman who put me and my little brother in a place of honor in her heart. We can't KNOW until we know. Your greenery is lovely.
Do you have running cedar growing in the Mts? We had it in Va., and we used it for the greening along with pine boughs, mistletoe, box wood and red berries.
I had never heard the term "greening up the house" for Christmas until I found your channel. What a wonderful & beautiful way to celebrate the season! Your home is absolutely beautiful & so festive for the holidays. Thank you for taking us with you as you celebrate the birth of Jesus. Hugs!
So many different greens and berries I've never seen, and so lovely the way you've fixed them! It's funny to see your outdoors with no snow at all, although it was like that last week here. But we had Tipper's dream today; lots of snow, all over the trees, everything is white, a real White Christmas. Hope you get some, too.
Beautiful swag over your door to the living room. Great job..Merry Christmas ♥️🎄
Very beautiful and a great tradition for sure. I’m going to go cut some greenery for the house tomorrow. The greening always makes the season special with beauty, wonderful pine smell, and great memories of times past. Thank you again for sharing and warming my heart. Have a blessed, Merry Christmas. From West Virginia.
Good old Matt for coming home exhausted and still being able to put that wonderful swag up for you.
And of course Corie, yourself and Katie for helping and the encouragement.
A Very Merry Christmas from me to Austin and all of you .
You do good work real fast!
Absolutely GORGEOUS
Tipper they are gorgeous! Wow!
Your swag is very pretty.
What a wonderful tradition to pass on to your girls. I loved the story of the boxwoods.
Wish you could come to Michigan and see my snow. Looks so peaceful in my big ole victorian house with the real tree and the lights! Wishing you all the best!
Simply beautiful! 🥰🇬🇧🎄☃️
Tipper you are so creative! They’re all beautiful!
My mom has a boxwood tree and kids love to play on the inside of it
You are so beautiful😭. Gosh I just miss my old home place and you have hand delivered inspiration and mountain heart for 🎄 Christmas.
Blessings and Merry Christmas to your family and those talented girls!!!
Such a special time , getting to gather natures beautiful offerings to bring into your home and make it special for your family . I make my wreaths with redwood branches here in Northern California but can't wait to get back to my roots , have my space , to garden , a strip pit pond , it is huge , more like a lake , we are moving to our place in OK in the spring ! Then I will be in my element ,I wish for every person to find the place that makes them feel alive and full of adventure !
So beautiful 💗…..I love it🎄
Thanks for taking us along with u as you decorate!!❤😊
Tipper I just can not image you a a bratty teenager. So beautiful everything you and Corie made .Merry Christmas !!
I love the sentiment about the boxwoods and your mom. Have you told her? You have a wonderful tradition. Merry Christmas ❤
Everything looks so pretty, and I bet it smells good to! ⛄️🎄🕊
So simple yet so festive! Nothing shows Christmas time like the greening of Christmas. Add the nativity and Christmas has begun.
Whether in Appalachia, or somewhere else in the world’s, the Greening is a special part of Christmas, as are chestnuts, stringing popcorn or cranberries.
