My unusual looking Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) gets a structural prune to further develop a more windswept mountain top style to the tree.
The tree is planted in a handmade pot by Shany from Quebec Canada and I’m trying to match the style of the tree with the pot. I also show many updates near the end of the video.

I do admire your dedication to clip and grow, I know for sure I couldn't help myself from wiring a tree like this.
i like whats going on here i personally just dont like the Z form at the apex,.. it a wait and see game i guess,… but the wind concept with that base is a 10/10
Hi Nigel. I enjoy and appreciate your vlogs. Maybe you mentioned this and I missed it. If you didn't have a greenhouse would the appropriate time to do this type of pruning of a hardy pine be in early spring? Thanks. I have lots of pre bonsai and was planning to prune in the spring.
That pot is fantastic
Nigel – what about using those dwarf varieties to build your accent plant options?!?!
I think you created a nice wind blown look from the pruning for the future. For the front of the mouth of the pot, what about some moss growing in it? Might look good. Just a thought.
Tremendous improvement. I really enjoyed your thought process. Thanks, keep growing
Too bad about the Eucalyptus dying on you. Winter is the toughest to keep them alive up north. Trees in the greenhouse looking good.
i like it. its funky like the pot. happy holidays nigel
I like the apple alot.
If the tree isn't following the usual bonsai rules, maybe it can be called the Outlaw Pine. Merry Christmas Nigel.
It is always good to see you demonstrate that we don't have to use wire. That apple is the one that reall sparks my interest and I have been watching its development for some time now. Cheers, Xav
Hi Nigel, you have to clean up that apple tree s dead wood or you risk the tree.
Hallo god morning mr. Nigel come back to listening from in đČđš
That's a cracking tree! Real Scots pines don't know about bonsai conventions…
What is the place called that you got the small $14.99 trees from? Iâd be interested in checking them out. Thank you and great video.
Just LOVE the pot on this Scots pine. My only thought is switch the front/back on it. I really don't like the front with that large branch sweeping across the trunk. Would you consider switching it? Enjoyed seeing some other bonsai progress. I just added a Jamaican Ebony tree (Brya ebenus) to my collection. Have grown them in the past but gave them to friends. I missed this tree in my collection. I especially like flowering bonsai. You sure are going to have some interesting videos in the spring working with the large variety of plants that you have. So glad that you are continuing to produce videos at this time of year. I look forward to spending my mornings watching YouTubers like you.
I think a lot of us have âwait and see treesâ. The tree was greatly improved by the pruning choices you made.
Fantastic! I'm hoping to master overwintering trees, then I can acquire more native trees. I love my tropicals! Don't get me wrong…. I just want one of everything!đ„Žđ”âđ«
i think the pine looks great, tough to clip and grow wind swept style. i enjoyed the updates as well, thanks Nigel!
