  2. I’ve got a raised bed full of it in NC – thanks for this timely video as I haven’t harvested any yet.

  3. I love mustard greens and I mix it with collards, kale and turnip greens with 2 ham hocks. Yummy 😋😋😋
Thanks for the info and happy gardening 🌿🌱🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬

  4. My favorite mustard is the Japanese Giant Red Mustard available from Baker Creek. It's beautiful.

  5. I mixed some of my bulk seeds together in a bag and tossed them around the lawn before a three day rain here in Louisiana to test the soil at my new rural lot. Florida broadleaf mustard is one that does well in our Winters, even down to 14 degrees. I threw out those, radish, turnip, collard, beet, kohlrabi, spinach, and something else, plus I planted Little Gem Romaine lettuce in a few spots as an experiment. In Winter here there are enough frosts to control pests but enough warmer days to boost growth. The first seeds I tossed out two weeks ago came up so these should too. Hopefully they grow before mowing season returns. I hope to save seeds from the best plants.

  6. Always love your videos but Dale stole the show today. Made me smile watching him in his cute shirt and playing in the yard!

  7. Been eating mustard greens all of my life! Love them. Smoked or pickled meats added to your mustard greens is the best. Thats some good eating! Try cornbread with your mustards. Collards mustard turnip and cabbage with smoked or pickled meats is pure Southern eating. Watch out de na!
Baton Rouge Louisiana coming at you!

  8. Search for Asian recipes for broth-based stews with pork or fish. Many of them use mustard greens. I can also substitute recipes that call for bok choy with mustard greens (I favor the younger/tender leaves).

  9. One time I got stranded in an ice storm at our fishing camp. No food except catfish. So out of desperation I checked the old garden. I found a few huge mustard plants that had re-seeded themselves and the giant leaves were covered in a sheet of ice and I also spotted some green onions. So I had boiled mustard greens with green onion and catfish to eat.

  10. We have always grown mustard greens and my mom and dad grew them to and I'm from the mountains of North Carolina

  11. Mustard greens is a stable in African american homes. We also mix them with collard, turnip, and spinach greens with smoked meat. Collards in pot first let them cook down then add mustards, then turnip greens and add spinach to pot last with garlic, onions and peppers then simmer til tender. Thats some good eating. Mixed greens is one of the best holiday side dishes. Broccoli rabe is fantastic reminds me of a tender broccoli.

  12. Never tried Rapini, didn’t know it was bitter. I love the Komatsuma, or Komatsuna from the same company you got your mustard green. The Komatsuna is less bitter than the regular mustard greens and very large also. The Komatsuma is a combination of Chigamasia, can’t spell, sorry and tatsoi I think. Have you tried the tatsoi? It is very dark green and supposed to be sweet. I make cucumber and Komatsuna juice sometimes with tatsoi to get raw folic acid. All from Baker Creek and other places. Had a hard time with the cabbage moth here in NC when it was still warm, but the greens mentioned were not as affected as the broccoli, cauliflower and kohlrabi. Dogs get so excited by cats, looks like Dale had fun!!
