Karen shares some thoughts on her Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica), growing tips and different ways to use and preserve the fruit.
This popular evergreen street tree was planted in the nature strip (verge) 10 years ago.
The large fruit of the grafted Bessell Brown variety ripens in spring. The abundant fruit is shared between neighbors and wild rosella parrots.

❤I love your videos. Well done beautiful loquat
I commented some time ago concerning pistachio trees, but I’m somewhat interested in if the loquat tree fruit is attacked by medfly. I live in the SW of WA and when I lived in Perth I remember many years ago a loquat tree growing on a street verge. I thought the fruit was reasonable but perhaps not quite as good as an apricot but if I wanted a tree with good looking foliage a loquat is probably worth considering. Where I live now, there’s plenty of different variety fruit trees, way too many, as it has a large number of pink lady apple trees. I myself probably prefer some older type apple varieties although pink lady are still great fresh. Because predator birds and Mediterranean fruit fly are expected over the next several months I’ll have to deal with that. You mentioned drying fruit, I particularly like dried mango or any fruit really. When I lived in Perth 0:34 didn’t dry the mango fruit as I didn’t get sufficient mangoes off my KP mango tree.
