I love hearing all about your perspective on moving to Denver from the UK. I'm from Arizona/ Colorado and moved from Colorado to the UK to marry my partner a few years ago. I can really relate to the differences you talk about between the two countries. I miss the nature of the US southwest and all of the national and state parks. But in the UK I love that I can walk everywhere without a needing a car and have access to healthy affordable food. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you sincerely for all of your content lately. I'm a long time subscriber but I never comment and I find a lot of comfort in your videos and really look forward to watching them!
Are the food prices really THAT different when you take into account currency exchange?
I use to travel to London at least once a year, and before recent post pandemic inflation that’s raised the dollar up, the pound was almost $1.75 ish. So I would have this habit of seeing food for one pound and thinking that’s like one dollar and what a steal. But it was actually closer to two dollars .
Things are definitely changing. The pound to dollar is more like the Euro was before ($1.30) and prices are inflating in most countries. But taking everything into account (exchange rates and also maybe accidentally comparing current US inflated prices with UK pre inflation prices cause of timing) is it so extremely different?
I’m actually asking out of curiosity because I will be in the UK in the spring for six weeks and curious. 🤔🙏😂❤️
Super recommend checking REI outlet and FERAL on Tennyson and any Play It Again Sports location for all your outdoor gear!!
Also – Mercury cafe is my favorite place in all of denver! Definitely check it out ❤
World Market has lots of English teas, biscuits, and other goodies!
What was that book with tempeh in it? 📖👀
I live in Utah and we always joke about how Colorado drivers are the worst!! 😆
If you really want to be scared while driving, you should try New Jersey!
I've been loving the vlogs! They're so calming. I'll be sad when vlogmas is over! Watching you make all these big changes in your life has been so inspiring, thank you for bringing us along for the journey. My partner and I have just gotten our first rental home (officially moving in tomorrow!) and I'm already trying to figure out how to make the most of the rental garden so I can't wait to see what you do with yours. If you ever find yourself in Washington, I hope you do a meetup! P.S. Check your local World Market for Marmite! They're a chain store that specializes in imported goods. They always have Marmite at my location 🙂
You always look pretty! 🥰👍🏻💕
Thanks for mentioning our food prices. Truly people here don't realize how much our prices differ from other countries. It is a shame that we cannot do better for our citizens. But I do think you should consider writing a cookbook about food preservation; pickling etc. I think it would do well here. You know more than you think you do. Best wishes!
As far as hummus goes, try to find a grocery store that includes local brands. In Texas, the HEB chain has some local items. In the Austin area, I can find a good hummus that's made by a local food company at my main HEB supermarket. They also have things like bulk honey, bulk kombucha, grind-your-own peanut butter/almond butter in addition to dry foods bulk selection. HEB is not in Denver, but you might find something that has local brands as well. For bulk, sprouts is okay too. Definitely try asian/hispanic specialty grocers. They tend to have better prices for some foods. Also, for chocolate I recently found a brand called Hu. It's high quality, vegan, and has a great dark chocolate. The Endangered Species brand is good too. 10% of profits go to charity. They both have fair trade certifications as well.
I'm American and I still miss London! The history and the culture there! Had I the money, I'd just pop back over there and spend a year or two! Denver is a pretty expensive city. But honestly the food prices have shot up so much in the last year or two all over the U.S..
I do believe World Market has Marmite , but you should call your local one to ask. I buy Vegemite there and have seen it on the shelf alongside. Of course , there’s always Amazon but I like to shop local first. Since the pandemic things are not as reliable to source.
Awesome video
I've been having a few bad mental health days and I've been mass watching your videos to feel better and get inspired to improve myself. Your such a joy to watch.
I did not know you were learning french! It's my native language, it sounds funny that we learn our respective native languages. Learning languages is great 😊

1:57 – Tbh (really & truly)… rambling is one of the things I love most about you, Immy!! You create content that is comfortable, honest, and relaxing… you are never preachy or pretentious. Although I have never met you irl, I’m doing things with you such as participating in your awesome 100 Day Outdoor Movement Challenge (day 44 for me), wild swimming, cooking, baking, thrifting, reading, and just learning and talking about life in general. All of this is done through rambling which (in imho) is the bedrock for connection and community participation here on your channel. Please never stop rambling… cuz I love it!! Thanks also for answering my question Immy… so much respect for you and your rambling. 💦🌎Ⓜary💕⛄
On the topic of hummus in the US, I agree that generally store bought hummus is not good but the Trador Joe's hummus is amazing! I will quite literally have it every single day in the summer time. I highly, highly recommend trying it (and just going to Trador Joe's in general for affordable good food).
Store-bought hummus is terrible here, I agree!!! That said, I live in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan, and there are many amazing Middle Eastern restaurants (especially in Dearborn) that make AMAZING hummus! We have our local favorite and one that is a bit of a drive (used to be a location in Ann Arbor… La Shish IYKYK 🙂 My introduction to hummus was at La Shish while studying at UofM, and I have had a love affair with it ever since. 🤤
You could try cross country skiing- at least in the Midwest there’s no cost to use trails and you just have to purchase skis which can be done secondhand.
Groceries in general are a lot more pricey right now. Denver is even more pricey. You'll find that true in Cali, NY…
If there is a World Market near you, they have some British foods like digestives, mushy peas, marmite…. Not sure how much of it would be vegan.
as someone who was born in the states, I clicked on this video so fast
Oh my goodness…most of what was asked I had those same questions in my head too! Ha! And that comment about your overall positive energy was spot on. I’ve noticed that as well. ✌️🌱
The food prices here are crazy and it’s strange because we grow so much food. I’m in SoCal and sometimes a uk YouTuber I watch will do Aldi vegan shop with me videos and everything is so cheap. It’s like an alternate universe.
Hit 120k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months, Started with 14k in January 2022❤️
